We arrived in Italy after a 12 hour flight. I didn't even say anything about using that fake passport and ID again. I learned the less that I know, the better. Charlie reassured me that no Italian mobsters would be pulling up on us for any reason. I didn't know if I trusted that, but I would be ready if they did. We arrived to what would be home for the next week. Of course Charlie didn't disappoint with the accommodations. Everything was always luxurious. There would be no staff here so it felt more down to earth, how I preferred it. We proceeded to unpack and settle in.
"Are you alright?" I asked her. She had hardly said a word since we met at the airport. She spent the plane ride on her laptop and pretending I wasn't there.
"Yea." She answered without looking up at me. She continued to concentrate on her phone. Fed up with her dry silent treatment, I grabbed her phone and placed it face down on the bed.
"Talk to me Mama. Tell me what's wrong."
"I said nothing." She snatched her phone back and continued to scroll.
I tried to kiss her on the neck and she dodged it. I don't know what had gotten into this girl. It had to be the pregnancy screwing with her hormones.
"Is this how you're going to act the whole week? I could've stayed home."
She sighed and finally sat her phone down to look at me. "I just feel disgusting."
"Disgusting? For being here with me?"
"Yes. I went from having sex and being in love with one person for majority of my life to juggling a love affair. I'm not an emotionless slut. This is hard for me."
"How? You said your husband was a dub. You were dead set on getting a divorce." I was confused about why she was so confused all of a sudden.
"That's just it. I don't know. I thought he was my soulmate for so long. You came and fucked with my head, got me pregnant just so you could propose to someone else. When we're together you treat me like I'm the only person in the world that matters to you. As soon as you leave you're on social media proclaiming your undying love for someone else. It just makes me realize that I should think about this a lot more."
"You wanted a divorce before you met me."
"I did. He made a mistake, but I feel like I've paid him back now. He thought he got his children's mom pregnant, but he didn't. I was mad because of the principle. Here I am now actually pregnant with your baby. I'm a hypocrite. Then there's the fact that I didn't have a great relationship with my son's dad when I was pregnant. I didn't get to feel comforted, or any of the supportive things you're supposed to feel while you're pregnant. I wanted the next time to be different. Tyler and I decided not to have kids together and I made peace with that. I didn't intend to do this with someone who is going to marry and be with someone else. Then there was last night..."
