w14- Wednesday
DISCLAIMER: THIS HAS NOT YET BEEN EDITED, SO IF YOU'RE READING NOW AND THERE'S MISTAKES, I'm SORRY AND IT WILL BE ALL DONE IN THE MORNING!
"Adrian stop freaking hiding!" I stamp my feet around the garden, frustrated.
"I'm being serious now!" I throw up my arms.
"Alright, I'm going." I start towards the wooden gate.
"No, baby wait." I turn back to find Adrian fighting with the overgrown hedge he had hidden himself behind.
"Get your dumbass out the hedge." I facepalm, gradually bringing myself closer to him.
As he continues his little battle with the far stronger hedge, his hair falls onto his face shielding his eyes from the early winter's morning sunrise. The vigorousness of the wind thrashes against his well-built body, only putting him into a deeper mess. The chuckles leaving my mouth, cannot adequately make up for how funny and circus ready this actually is for me to watch.
Adrian keeps tugging at his foot intertwined with the emerald green vines, attempting to loosen the grip and slip out. But instead, the plant quickly snatched the shoe, causing his unready body to come tumbling down.
I crouch down to retrieve his mud-covered sneaker, then proceed to toss it to him besides his head, careful enough not to hit him.
"That's why you listen the first time round." I give him my hand to help him up.
"Sorry, umma" He rolls his eyes whilst sticking his tongue out.
"Aish, you're so annoying!" I retort, stomping back over to the swinging bench.
"Wow, so you won't ever call me jagi, but you'll say aish." His eyes widen, sitting himself down besides me.
"Shut up." I punch his arm playfully, to which he retaliates.
Immediately, his hands curl around my waist, dragging me down to the green shimmering grass. Pin pointing each arm and foot to the ground, his body towers over me like ape to a monkey. I don't know if he realises that if I get a single stain on my outfit I will happily allow him to explain the reason to my parents. Luckily enough, I'm wearing black joggers and sweater, saving me from any visible mark.
"Get off me, bish." My hands press against his chest, as I try to push this boy off me. Anyone could catch us.
"Call me 'jagi'." He smirks whilst his silver crystalized chain dangles from his neck onto my face. I'm sorry but I don't understand how people find this a turn on, I'm over here hoping the damn thing won't poke me in the eye.
"It's literally been months since you asked for that." I giggle, remembering the start.
"You never call me it though." He pouts, letting his bottom lip hang.
"That's a lie."
"You call me toffee instead."
"Because toffee reminds me of you." I make a massive grin, exposing my glistening teeth. sike.
"B-But I use both, why can't you?" He whimpers. Is this boy about to cry?
"You are such a baby."
"Please call me it." He continues, ignoring my previous remarks.
"If you tell me why you call me sprinkles, I'll call you ja-...that word." I compromise, almost slipping up.
"Because it reminds me of you."
Boy-
"No, you said there's a deeper meaning." I murmur, fixing up his hair by sweeping strands out of his eyes to the side. Something about his hair fascinates me today. On the usual, he'd gel it up or let it hang on the side. However today he's giving me very music artist vibes. He's got curtains at both sides, they're not bad at all, just makes him look different. Meaning it's like I'm dating two men rather than one.
"Fine. I call you sprinkles because-" The buzzing of my phone interrupts the deeply important conversation I was just having. Why do I always get interrupted when something important is happening? I need answers...
"Hello?" I speak into my phone, hesitantly not recognizing the number displayed.
"Is this Faviola Dele?" A deep masculine voice replies, sending shivers down my spine. Not in a good way, though.
"It is. Please may I ask... who am I speaking to?"
"I am professor Daniel, speaking to you on behalf of the government..." My heart stops and drops as far down as it can go. My breathing increases but I steadily bring it back down in hope of not sounding to cautious.
"How may I help?" Adrian lifts his hands from the ground, lightly sitting on top of me whilst pulling faces and using hand gestures, clearly curious to who is on the phone.
I bring my hand index finger up to my lips. His dumb self thinks it's a joke by chuckling to my annoyance.
"In regards to your earlier exam explaining your take on the experiment, you are required to take a lab test."
"What was wrong with my answer if the president rightfully agreed to my thinking?" I subtly argue.
"We just have to make sure you will abide to the rules, as it's better now to put everyone in their place before the twentieth. Your appointment is scheduled today for one pm."
"Where am I supposed to go?"
"All tests are held in local schools, so please go to the same block you took the earlier test."
"Thank you." I huff.
"Wai-"
I cut the phone off at least grasping the overall details of the call. Adrian's eyes shift from side to side, in attempt of reading my face. The lift of his right eyebrow is enough to understand his curiosity has spiked. That's something he's very known for... curiosity!
"The government called." I slide the phone into my pocket, taking a deep breathe.
"Is it about?"
"Uh-huh." I bite my lip and hold my breathe.
Without thought, he falls down so that he's lying besides me. Bringing me closer, hardly any empty space is in sight between the two of us. I change my tears into sniffles, closing my eyes harshly hoping to open them and end up somewhere else.
This can't be reality right now. The past can't be repeating itself, life should be getting easier, not harder. Why the hell does it feel so dark down here on earth? It's not fair.
If they detect anything about my want for unity in this place, I'm sure they'll deem it legal to arrest me on the twentieth. I hope one day, we'll progress and develop as people, instead of gatekeeping our relationship with one another.
"You should call her." He whispers into my ear after a few minutes passed.
"Yeah."
