Week14~Wednesday
"Can we stop off at Melissa's house first?" I slide into the car seat after shoving all four suitcases into the boot.
"No."
"Why not?" I moan.
"How long has it been since the two of you spoke?" Her eyes remain set on the road ahead of her as she grips the steering wheel tighter.
"I-I," thinking about it now, we only really text and FaceTime when the other's busy. Besides that, we've not had any other type of interaction. Every time I insist on meeting up she replies with some sort of excuse for why she's busy.
"We text." I drop my head down and sigh.
"Then it's not happening."
"Will I be able to see her before the twentieth?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"For fucks sake, Faviola! Are you dense? This isn't some sort of social event you get to brag about on the media! This is the rest of your life!"
"Gosh!" She groans hitting the wheel with the palm of her hand.
"Sorry." My voice comes out quiet, as if I'm in middle school being told off by my teacher.
"Just stop asking questions. This is a long drive." She rubs her eyes with her knuckles. I take this is a sign to keep quiet and let her be.
Several tiring hours go by and we eventually pull up into a rocky drive. I can't make out the structure and detail of the place due to winter's darkness and the great trees towering over.
Dim yellow lights in the ground shape themselves into a walkway up to the house. Although the lights don't shine too bright, it's enough to find your way in.
A subtle white light flickers besides the door, as it senses my presence. At last it turns on, illuminating the place with a clear view.
Besides Ariella's car, another is parked. I think it's the one Daniel and Adrian used to get here.
"Fav, help me with your bags!" An irritated groan is made from behind, snapping me out of my thoughts and curiosity.
"Uh- yeah, of course." I turn around and head for the already opened boot.
I heave out the last two large suitcases and cautiously place them on the loose marble ground. How am I supposed to drag them along the floor when it's not stable? Could I get any denser?
With that thought in mind, I grab the two bags by the black handles attempting to lift it up- with the exception of them actually leaving the ground. I know that if my brother were here right now, he'd be laughing at my excessive packing. Of course I just scowl at him... because at the end of the day, when you need an extra outfit for some odd reason- don't come back crying to me.
This time, I use both hands to pick one suitcase up. Surprisingly this one feels quite light, I'm assuming the other one contains most of my shoes and electronics.
Waddling over to the now open door, I lock eyes with his once again. They seem to flicker at a similar speed to the outdoor lamp- from dark to content. Recently I've noticed the serious, distant look flash every now and then in his eye. I don't know whether to ask or shake off the thought. It's stupid I guess.
His overgrow strands of black hair fall over his face, almost covering his eyes. My eyes wander down passing the freshly shaven jaw line to his broad shoulders. Each arm is defined with perfection, reflecting the work and effort put in. Earlier on, I hadn't been able to pay much close attention to his body. It was more or less a quick glance I got, before having to leave. However now despite the white shirt covering him, it still does justice to his figure.
