W14-Wednesday

Although no one of my eyes are open, the feeling of a bright white light continues to pierce through my eyelid. It creates the same type of irritating sensation you get when your friend shines a torch directly into your eyes with no warning.

The chirping of birds and softness of my pillow is nowhere in reach, well from what I feel and hear. In fact, I feel quite far from home.

My eyes flutter open from what felt like a nap I don't remember settling down to take. The intensity of the bright white effect I had once thought belongs to some sort of light, actually radiates between the four plain white walls holding me in this large but empty room.

Nothing but the bed I lie in is within here. Nothing but the rock hard bed, I never remember resting upon. I've never seen or been on it before. I don't even have a clue where I am. It really just feels like some sort of void if anything.

"Where am I?" I mumble under my breathe, looking around the nothingness on the four walls in hope of finding a door.

Levering myself up, I rest on the metal headboard of the bed, which only reaches up to the middle of my back.

Out of nowhere a piece of the wall breaks open. I don't know that's supposed to happen... but I'm not taking any chances. With that thought in mind, I pounce of the bed onto my feet, only to fall down. Why does it feel as if I've never used my feet in forever?

"You don't want to injure yourself, Miss Dele?" A tall, slim black lady enters the room, wearing a white lab coat and binder in hand.

"Who are you?" I quickly jump into a crouch position, still attempting to get to my full height again.

"Dr. Eze, and I do advise you get back up." She begins walking over to me, "Here let me help you..."

"I'm good," I dodge her hand and help myself up to the edge of the bed, "thanks."

"We have run through all tests and gotten the required answers. You are alright to leave when you feel ready and get back to your normal state. Just ring this bell so that I can discharge you."

"Hold on. Is this the same day as when I was called into the testing? Have I already take the test?" I scratch the back of my neck.

"Yes, you have taken the test and can be discharged when you're ready." The lady repeats with a slightly more bitter demeaner to her tone.

"O-oh ok." My eyes gaze up at her, "Thank you."

She gives me a small nod and proceeds to walk out of wherever the wall opened for her entrance.

Dropping my head down at the ground and clasping my hands together, I try to recall whatever happened in the test, but it feels so out of reach. It's as if I, myself was not present in the actual process. Maybe that's the point. I'm not supposed to be in control of my mind, so perhaps that's why I don't even remember my participation. I understand technology has drastically developed over the years, however I never would have thought to this extent.

When I was younger, I was taught about the body, the mind, the brain, the nerves. The mind is almost like an operating system for the body: it gathers, stores and manages information with help of different components from the brain. We all have a different operating system to each other, no one is alike. However... to read my mind is something more powerful than anything I've ever seen. Even the owner of the mind, can't do anything in their power to block the sensory information forced in. They have the power... but the only way that'd work is to place me into a coma-like state. The risk of survival is slim when it comes to this. If you survive... you'd think to call yourself lucky. Scientists have to make sure you don't wake up whilst being attached to the wires, but exactly after they've been detached.
