Chapter 51 - The Jealous Spouse - Part 3

Guddan and Akshat are back in the Mehendi ceremony, dragged by Reshma's friends. Both are pretending to smile, but couldn't really hide the reality of how they are feeling. Preeti notices this. Just then, Akshat notices something and immediately goes near Guddan and wraps his arm around Guddan's shoulder. Guddan was taken aback by this sudden gesture.

Guddan (shocked) - Aa........... aap yeh........ yeh kya kar rahe hain?

Akshat (faking a smile) - Zara andar chalo 2 minute ke liye!

Guddan (angrily) - Kyun? Aapko toh bahut kaam thha na........ Humse toh sidhhe munh baat bhi nahin kar rahe thhe aap........ Jaiye apna kaam khatam kijiye....... Hum nahin karenge aapko pareshaan.........

Akshat (stern voice) - Chup chap chalo!

Guddan (controlling her laughter) - Haan chalte hain par pehle haath toh hataiye........ Humein gudgudi ho rahi hai..........

Akshat - Aise hi chalo.....

Guddan - Ajeeb hain aap. Abhi itna chillaye hum pe aur abhi..........

Akshat (firmly) - Chalo........

Akshat hurriedly accompanies Guddan to their room and quickly locks the door.

Guddan (with her back towards the mirror, irritatedly) - Kya hai? Aapka na humein kuch samajh nahin aata........

He points her towards the mirror.

Guddan - Kya?

He points again. Guddan turns back and notices her blouse zip unfastened. Embarrassed, she backs against the wall.

Akshat (turning away) - It's ok. Main chala jata hun.........

Guddan tries but struggles to close the zip. As Akshat turns back to head towards the door, he sees her struggling.

He leans closer and an awkward silence prevails. He quickly fastens the zip and leaves without saying a word or even looking at her once, leaving her heartbroken.

In another corner of the Haveli, Reshma and Saahil are discussing something.

Reshma (worried tone) - Lagta hai kuch zyada hi ho gaya yaar! Dekh na, Guddan kitni udaas hai.

Saahil - Dekh, abhi se kamzor pad jayegi toh kuch nahin ho payega......... Thodi takraar hogi tabhi toh pyaar panpega............ Mere plan pe thoda bharosa rakh......... Sab thik hi hoga..........

"Haan aur sab theek hote hote meri toh shadi khatam ho chuki hogi..........", a voice echoed behind them.

Saahil and Reshma turned back with surprise. It was Preeti, fuming with anger.

Preeti (irritated tone) - Tum dono ko apne experiments ke liye meri hi shadi mili thi? Haan?

Saahil - Tu sunn toh..........

Preeti (not even looking at Saahil, and turning to Reshma) - Iski toh akal humesha hi ghaas charne jaati hai, par tu toh samajhdaar hai na........ Phir? Kya laga rakha hai yeh sab........... Aisa kya kiya tum logon ne ki Guddan tabse ro rahi hai..........Aisa laga hi nahin ki meri Mehendi thhi aaj......... Guddan ka chehra utra hua thha aur tu bas muskurane ka natak kar rahi thhi.......... Mere dono sabse kareebi dost hokar bhi thhe hi nahin function mein......... (after a pause) Chalo thik hai, aaj Mehendi thhi, air yeh chota- mota sangeet toh hafte bhar se ho raha hai, iske barbaad hone ke liye main phir bhi maaf kar sakti hun tum logon ko....... Par agar kal ka main Sangeet tum logon ke experiments ke chalte barbad hua toh bhul jaana Preeti naam ki koi dost thhi tumhaari.......... Kitni practice ki hai sabne kal ke liye.......... Main kuch nahin jaanti, jo bhi bigada hai tum logon ne abhi ke abhi thik karo.......... (and she leaves without listening to either of them)
