Chapter 8 Nindroid Lost in the City

"SOMEONE HELP! PLEASE!"

"Be QUIET! Or else we'll make you."

"Leave her alone!"

"Get lost, kid! We just want the lady's purse."

Jay stared in alarm at the scene a little ways from him. Four grown men had backed a lady against an alley's wall, and Mr. Julien's robot was standing in between them. Jay's jaw nearly dropped. The once motionless robot is now walking, talking, and picking a fight with four men! Jay remained where he stood, still wondering if what he was seeing was even real. Then, the sudden movement of one of the men caused Jay's brain to kickstart again.

"I said MOVE!" The man exclaimed before raming his arm into Mr. Julien's robot. He quickly tumbled to the ground by the sudden blow.

"HEY!" Jay screamed without even thinking. His blood soon ran cold once all of their eyes fell on him. One of the men scoffed with annoyance.

"Another kid!? That's it! Give me that purse!" One of the men exclaimed as he walked over to the woman. The woman backed further away, but the man ended up grabbing her arm. She yelped in shock as she tried to shove him off.

"Hey! Let her go!" Jay shouted and ran right towards them.

What am I thinking!? I can't fight these guys! But I can't just do nothing! Maybe I stand a chance if I use my...

"Oof!" Jay said before one of the guys punched him right in the face. Jay crumbled to the ground.

"Stay down, kid. Or else," The man who punched him threatened. Jay lifted his gaze to see the robot looking his way, surprised to see what he tried to do. Jay remained where he was, but the robot stood up again.

"Huh, you want some more?" Another man asked the robot.

"I'm not giving up without a fight. I protect those who cannot protect themselves," He replied before pulling up his fists. Jay stared in shock while the group of men started to chuckle.

"Playing hero won't help you," Another guy said before punching the woman in order to shut up her screaming and grab her bag. The woman collapsed to ground and fell unconscious. Something snapped inside Jay as he quickly jumped on to the man with the purse. He held on tightly to the guy's back. The man tried to shake him off, but Jay was focused on his own hands.

If I can just send enough energy through my hands, then maybe I can knock him out.

Jay placed his hands on the guy's shoulders and tried his best to focus despite the man's attempts to throw him off. Jay grew quiet as he could feel energy moving through his body.

ZAP!

"AAAHH!" The guy cried out before falling to the ground. Jay opened his eyes and realized that it worked. He smiled wide while the other men stared at him in disbelief.

"The kid's got a taser!" One man spoke loudly. Another guy grew furious before picking up Jay quickly. He shoved him against the brick wall and the wind was knocked out of the young teen.

"You're dead meat," The man said as he raised his fist. Jay tried to focus on his powers again, but the pressure on his neck made it hard to breath for the teen let alone focus on anything else. Jay glanced to his left to see the other two men were cornering Mr. Julien's robot. Jay then turned back to the man holding him up and waited for his fate.

CRASH!

Jay fell to the ground, but no blow came to his face. The ginger head opened his eyes to see a familiar figure towering over his attacker, who was now laying in a pile of garbage.
