2018.

Soobin was running late. His mum had insisted on finishing the breakfast before he stepped out of the house to go anywhere and had shoved a humungous plate of tteokbokki on his face. Poor Soobin was clearly hesitant to eat all of it-the kid was becoming self aware of his chubby cheeks. But he was hungry and knew he had a long day of practice ahead. So he decided to eat. All of it. Bye bye diet plans.

He was a trainee at Bighit Entertainment, and boy, he was never on time. He had already screwed up after the auditions, by giving the staff the wrong contact. 2 months they had spent to find the boy.

Moreover the poor kid had gobbled up 5 packs of icecream, sad that his auditions went into disaster mode. But in the end he was selected, and happy to say, he was in cloud nine.

He had tried hard for this. To get into Bighit. To be an idol. To be loved by millions of fans.

And to see Kim Seokjin.

Serioulsy, the boy's fixation on Seokjin was off-the-charts.

You can't blame him though. It was Kim Seokjin after all.

He rushed into the Bighit building and scurried to the practice room, after a slight prompt from the staff at the hallway.

He had made some friends, actually. Even though he was a bit of an introvert, he knew he needed friends.

There was this kid from America. Hueningkai was his name. He was a bit loud , one could say. But he was a sweetheart. And safe to say, Soobin was the most attached to Hueningkai, lovingly called Hyuka. He was the proud owner of 58 plushies, god knows if there's more.

Then there was Taehyun. A kid from Seoul. He joined Bighit because his house was near, even though he got calls from about 20 other companies. He was like the epitome of savage, but was a cute baby.

And Beomgyu. Hailing from Daegu. His conversations dripping with his heavy accent, and he was a total prankster. He was the usual target for beatings from Taehyun. You can't rebuke the younger, sometimes Beomgyu was a bit over the top.

Finally, Yeonjun.

He was a shocker.

Soobin still remembers the first time he actually met Yeonjun. He was looking at the monthly evaluation charts that day.

Soobin pondered over the notice boards. Hoping find hiss name somewhere in the top half.

"Oh, there I am. Good job, Soobin," he gave himself a pat on the back.

A tap on the shoulder made him turn back. The other boy was probably about his age, shorter than him with raven hair. He was smiling as if he found something really really interesting.

But those eyes. Those eyes were probably the most beautiful ones Soobin had ever witnessed. They were sharp, dazzling and seemed as if they were hiding a hundred mysteries.

Soobin might actually try to find them all.

The boy looked over the notice boards and glanced back to Soobin. And suddenly Soobin was self aware.

"Who's first?"

Soobin was confused over the sudden query.

"Who's first? In the evaluations? Rap,dance and vocal?" the boy asked again, clearly taunting the taller.

"Oh... ", Soobin tore his eyes away from the other, and glanced at the notice boards.

There was one name. Same name in all the three categories.

Choi Yeonjun.

"Wow, who is this guy?", Soobin thought to himself, unfortunately a bit loud.

"That's me!!", exclaimed the other boy and gave out that million dollar smile and hurried away.

Soobin couldn't take his eyes off Yeonjun's retreating figure, smiling at everyone in the room. He was walking with strong, steady steps, flaunting his amazing body proportions. Soobin could almost see the crowd inside the room part a slight bit at the centre, making way for Yeonjun.

He walked like he was the king.

And he still is.

4 years and no one could pass the sharp eyed fox. There could be two people in the first place, even. And Yeonjun would definitely be one of them. And man, he deserved that. The boy danced like there was no tomorrow. He would literally lose himself on the dance floor. Yet his moves were controlled, composed, as if they were made just for him. His freestyle was amazing. BTS's dancing machine j-hope once had a playful dance battle with the trainees.

"I will look forward to you, Choi Yeonjun. And we both will have a real dance battle.", Hoseok sunbaenim had said, clearly impressed by the younger's skills.

But the initial intimidation Yeonjun had, or Soobin thought he had, was nothing at all.

Choi Yeonjun was a cutiepie and a literal baby, even when he was oldest among his friends. He whined over food, called himself Yeonjunnie , talked in third person during a conversation and gave out the most unbelievable pout when he didn't get enough tteokbokki.

Yeonjun was overly close with Ssobin, and would literally leave the younger flustered over the smallest things. He would hug the younger when he got scolded for making mistakes. He would buy him vanillla icecream sometimes. They both would go out to the nearest convenience store and have instant ramen.

Soobin cherished every moment he spent with Yeonjun, he was his best friend.

He was his shoulder to cry on when he messed up pretty bad during practice.

He was the first person he would go to smiling and cheerfully hugging the older, when he got into top 5.

Soobin found himself the luckiest, for having Yeonjun with him.

And Soobin was having a massive crush on his best friend.

Boy, that was a bit unexpected.
