"Hi June!" I screeched from down the hallway, which resulted in her to drop a textbook to the ground. I grinned as I skipped past people in the hallway with my ice cream box neatly tucked under my arm, and my backpack on my shoulders. However, halfway through my skipping, one of my slides fell off in the hallway, so I had to stop and hop back over to it to put it back on my foot. Once satisfied with it fitting, I continued my skipping along to Blaire, who was facepalming herself by her locker as people gave me weird looks.

Finally, I finished my excited walk by jumping right in front of the blonde. I examined her for a second, relieved that she actually looked like she was able to get a good night of sleep. Because Adrienne ended their little sex friendship, June was definitely down in the dumps for a while. Blaire and I were even starting to get worried about her drinking habits, especially when a couple weeks ago we had to pick her up in the middle of nowhere at like four in the morning. It was actually quite scary, her makeup and emotional state was in a mess, and ever since then she's harbored a huge grudge for Adrienne.

But then, June started dating Riley...which I didn't understand, but whatever tooted her boat I guess...Is that how the saying goes? Tooting her boat? Hm, that didn't sound right.

"Addy, what are you doing?" She said as she put the textbook in her locker then leaned against it. I watched her eyes flicker up and down. "Why are you wearing knee-high socks over your leggings?"

I looked down and shrugged, "I thought they were cool. They're mustard colored!"

She blinked, "Addy, how many times do we have to go over this. It's literally 85 degrees out. Why are you wearing that big ass sweater, leggings, knee-high socks, and a baseball cap?" She narrowed her eyes, "What is under your arm?"

I smiled, "Nah, I'm not hot. You're just jealous!" I poked her arm, "And uh, it's honey dew ice cream, do you want some?"

"No thanks..." she paused, "Please don't tell me that's all your eating today." I mean, no, I had a little serving of pineapple and cranberry juice in my backpack. I grinned to myself knowing the real reason why I was eating all this sweet stuff.

"Nope! I have fruit in my backpack." I bit my lip, "So, I have something to tell you. Please don't be mad when I tell you, I just told Blaire." I placed all my weight on my heels as I teetered back and forth in anxiousness. Since Melanie asked me to officially be her girlfriend, I decided to just tell my friends in person before they found out some other way. Plus, they were my best friends, and if they didn't support our decision then maybe I had to evaluate our friendships.

Thankfully, I told Blaire briefly in the parking lot. She told me that she wasn't surprised, and honestly she just assumed we were a couple from the start. The conversation was probably only a minute long, and she still emphasized that if Melanie did something stupid she was prepared to get the murder supplies ready for June's execution plan.

Heh, Blaire was always the brains of a carefully planned murder, while June wielded the axe.

This announcement caused her eyebrows to raise, "What did you do?" She sighed and pressed her fingers to the bridge of her nose, "I swear Addy, if you accidentally left oat milk in your car to rot again..." I laughed at the traumatic memory of the time I completely forgot my oat milk in the trunk of my car during a heat wave. For a couple weeks, I wasn't sure what the foul smell was in my car, but by the time I opened my trunk when I was with June...let's just say she was not a happy camper helping me clean my trunk out.

"Nope," I grinned, "Even better!"

She narrowed her eyes, "What do you mean 'even better?'"

I smiled widely, "Melanie Canon and I are dating. She asked me to be her girlfriend and I said yes!"
