Chapter Nineteen - Addison - Fun

note: barely smut, ya know the drill

"What?" I muttered as my lips grazed Melanie's for a second, then I moved my head away to look at the brunette. My heart was beating intensely in my chest, and for a second I thought I was going to pass out when I heard her say that she liked me.

She likes me.

Melanie Canon really likes me.

To reinforce my thoughts, Melanie whispered softly again, "I really like you, Addison." I held my breath again, and I felt butterflies flutter in my stomach as I heard her words again. I could feel the goosebumps rise on my skin, and I had to steady myself by wrapping my arms around Melanie so I wouldn't fall off the stool.

I closed the gap between us by kissing her softly and tenderly. I savored the taste of her lips, and I wanted this moment to last forever. I pulled my face away slowly and stared into her emerald eyes which were almost glowing with emotion at the moment.

"I, I-" I started to stutter but my mouth closed then opened again, "I don't know, I don't know what- what to say." I tried to control my breathing. I really couldn't believe what I just heard. If she was lying, then why did she sound so sincere? Could someone fake that sort of sincerity - the certainty?

"Don't feel pressured to say that you like me back, I just-" I heard her voice falter and I almost jumped in my seat as I pulled her closer to me.

I moved my ear to her chest and desperately wanted to see if her heartbeat was going as fast as mine. "No, shut up dumbass." I hurried out and moved my fingers against the small of her back, "Just. I just don't know what to say." I paused and said louder, "Can we just sit here in silence? I just...I like holding you, and I want you to hold me tighter. Let me find my words, Genius."

She let out a laugh that sounded like music, and I sighed into her. My eyes widened as I softly heard the intensity of her heartbeat. I pressed my head closer to her. She muttered, "Only you would call me a dumbass and a genius in the same breath."

I murmured against her, "I'm just making sure I heard it right. Just, just let me think. Shut up," I giggled.

Melanie Canon had feelings for me? I thought back to all the rumors that mentioned her name in the past, and none of them had any word of her confessing her feelings or actually being in a relationship with someone. When I thought back on it, there wasn't even a rumor about her pretending to like someone to get in someone's pants.

Melanie Canon was known for being straight-forward, bold, and entirely confident. She was known for coming to school in a sundress one day with a rumor of how one of the softball players ate her out in the girl's bathroom. Then she was known for coming to school in an oversized hoodie with the messiest bun imaginable but then fingering another girl in the backseat of her car on campus.

And I knew about all the rumors - about all the girls she's been with. I knew that some days she dressed super feminine, then the next she dressed masculine, or possibly in her pajamas because she didn't give a shit what others thought.

I always knew Melanie was experienced when it came to sex. She was always known for having her eye on somebody, and she expected nothing to come from any of her sexual relationships.

If someone said no - if someone wasn't interested, then she was known for just dropping it. She was the notorious girl that everybody knew about, but also the girl that made everyone forget about.

June often called her the school slut, which I often thought of as one of the nicer names people called her. I knew guys wanted her to get with them despite her sexuality, and she made them know that she wasn't interested. I also heard of guys hating her, of her stealing away girlfriends or getting straight girls to experiment. I heard of voices in the hallways that would either lust after her or hate her due to jealousy.
