We walk through town, eyes baring into my back. I was greeted and welcomed by everyone but it was not like the Storybrooke I remembered. Everything looked the same, but it didn't feel the same without Regina.
We reach a larger house and Emma pulls out her keys. She unlocks the door and steps inside.
"We're home!" She yells as a little girl comes running down the stairs.
"Mommy! Daddy!" She screams as she runs and hugs Hook.
"Hey Sunshine, how was your day?" Hook asks smiling at the little thing.
"Awesome! We went to the park but then Olly started to cry so we went home" the little girl frowns.
"That's okay, next time you guys can stay longer" Emma smiles giving the girl on a kiss.
"Hi guys!" A girl cheers walking down the stairs holding a little baby boy.
The girl has long dark brown curly hair and dark brown eyes like Regina. Her smile is radiant and she's not to tall. Her one hand is twitching a little as small sparks come from it, she has magic.
"Thank you so much Kayla" Emma smiles taking the boy from her hands.
"Anytime" Kayla smiles sticking her hands in her pockets.
"Wait your Kayla?" I ask staring at the girl.
"Yes I know, the Evil Queens daughter, but she's not evil anymore" she reassures me.
Regina's daughter, my daughter.
"You look a lot like your mother" I smile at her.
Emma gives me a wary look but pays Kayla the amount due and she heads out the door, heading for the Mayors house.
Hook shuts the door, the little girl still in his arms.
"You okay?" Emma asks me.
"Fine" I smile at her but my smile disappears as soon as we drop eye contact.
~.~
"So this is your room" Emma smiles showing me the guest bedroom. "Roland can sleep with you or Sunny would love to have a guest."
"I think he'll be fine with me" I smile at her.
She nods and heads out the door leaving me to my thoughts.
The room was cozy and small. The walls were painted a light blue couloir with a matching floral bedspread. A closet and dresser are of to the left right beside the door. A picture of a blue bird hangs over the bed and a lamp is sat beside the bed on the night stand. A warm fuzzy rug covers covers the wooden flooring adding an elegant touch to the room. A small bed is pushed of to the side in a matching blue bedspread, that must be for Roland.
I sit down on the bed and drop my bag with my remaining things. I unpack them into the closet and grab the few items of clothing Roland has and puts them away in the dresser.
My mind has flashes of Marian, lying helplessly on the bed, affected by the well known disease in this world, cancer. Her lungs kept filling up with fluids and the doctors weren't able to help. She died only a year ago, telling me she still loved me, but I didn't love her.
Roland eventually caught the disease too and I knew we needed magic. The doctors of this world couldn't do anything to help Marian, do I knew I needed to take action. I couldn't loose Roland too.
"Robin do you want to go to Granny's?" Emma calls to me.
"Sure" I call back as I leave the small room.
I walk down the wooden stairs to see Emma help get Sunny's sweater on and her cute little Mary Janes. Oliver is all bundled up and Roland is putting on his sweater.
"Here let me help you with that" I smile at Roland.
He lets me slip up his sweater. I place his hat on his head and grab his hand when Emma and Hook are ready to go.
"Do you have any money? Emma asks Hook.
"Of course I do love" Hook replies as he hold Oliver in his hands.
Emma shakes her head and we all head out the door.
It didn't take long to get to Granny's. Roland and Sunny were running ahead playing with each other. The two are really hitting it off. Roland is pretending to be a knight when Sunny is pretending to be a princess running from the awful dragon named Oliver.
"He's getting closer!" Roland yells holding our his pretend sword.
"Save me!" Sunny yells running further down the sidewalk.
I can hear Hook whisper something into Oliver's ear, "say rawr."
"Rawr!" Oliver yells as Sunny and Roland scream running further down the path.
I chuckle at the two, their really cute together.
"Turn right!" Emma yells to them as they run into Granny's diner. We follow close behind and step inside.
I see Sunny grab a table and Roland staring at someone. I turn to see who he is staring at and my heart stops in mid beat.
Regina.
"Regina?" I say as everyone goes silent.
She turns to me her beauty more beautiful then ever. Kayla was sitting with her as she turns to me too.
"Yes, do I know you?" She asks standing up and walking over.
Emma gives me a wary look at the scene before her.
She doesn't remember me.
"No, not at all" I smile at her. I go and sit down next to Roland at the table where he's sitting next to Sunny.
"You okay mate?" Hook asks sitting down next to Emma.
"Yah, just fine" I say looking down at my hands.
She doesn't remember me.
The words replay in my head, over and over and over again. The person I loved doesn't remember who I am, and never will. She won't remember our picnic in her office, or taking Roland to get ice cream with me, or anything. Nothing.
I stay silent for the rest of the night, not really knowing what to say. What could I say? My heart felt as it just been tore from my and crushed. I felt like nothing. I can't stand this. I can't stand not being able to hold her hand or import her when the going gets bad.
She's had to raise this child all by herself. I was never there when she needed me. I couldn't do anything. Marian left me, Regina left me, everyone I love is disappearing, without a trace.
My heart couldn't take it anymore, I couldn't take it anymore. I can't feel anything, everything I buried as coming right back up. Everything I wanted to hide was showing itself, everything I wanted to forget, I couldn't. It was too much, I can't take it anymore.
But I have to, I need to stay for Roland, for everyone. I have to. I need to. I can't leave him standing here without a father, a father who doesn't love him, a father who doesn't love anyone.
Before I knew it, we were standing up and going back to Emma's.
I walked into the small blue room and collapse on the bed. This is what I knew I would deal with if I came back. I knew I would have to be this way. To deal with all the pain from 14 years ago.
I have a daughter now, a daughter who was learning magic. A daughter I had with Regina. It was incredible that I had a daughter, but that daughter didn't know who I was.
She has been fatherless this whole time not having a clue on who her father was, on who left her as a child. She's grown up hating the man you call dad for leaving her and her mom. She hates me, wants nothing to do with me.
And I have to live with that.
But I will do what's right. I will find a way to come back into their family and become the father I need to be.
I promised you Regina, I will always find you.
