"I am sorry, what?" Biryeom asked, puzzled at whatever was happening.

"Step back at once!"

-

Jungkook ran to what happened to be the second exit and found Y/N lying there. He hurriedly took out a handkerchief from his pocket and covered his nose and mouth with it.

"You'll be okay, I promise," he whispered to her and easily picked his unconscious wife on his shoulders, as if she weighed nothing.

Seems like gym really did help him. Aight, sorry. No time for jokes here. Let's get back to the story.

Only a few seconds were left and he somehow had to manage to get out of there safely within the very few seconds.

He found the nearest exit which was already burning. Jungkook was drenched in sweat and his heart trembled out of fear looking at the fire that was steadily spreading. He couldn't wait any longer. Only 8 more seconds.

He took a deep breathe and made a go for it, jumping out.

Everything after that happened really quickly. As soon as he was a few steps away from the exit, it exploded like the firemen had previously predicted. This dangerous-yet-expected explosion sent him and Y/N flying and the landing on their front. This meant that he was lying on his face now and Y/N was lying on his back.

-

She didn't like it. She hated it. Every single bit of it.

Biryeom placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze as if comforting her.

"Yunhee, your blood pressure is going up. Stop worrying so much," he said, glancimg at the monitor that was attached to the wires on her body.

Yunhee was hospitalized for breathing in too much of the smoke and her right ankle was broken.

"I should be worrying! I tried to cause harm to her but she risked her life to save me. I don't deserve her. Why aren't you comforting her instead?" Yunhee finally broke down, amd Biryeom's eyes softened at ger vulnerable state.

"Our Yunhee, there there," he patted her back gently, "Because you need to be comforted too. You risked your safety to look for her too."

Yunhee stiffened at that and looked up at him, "How do you know that?"

"So you really did it. I just did a wild guess," Biryeom said, his smile appearing on his face once again.

Yunhee didn't know why, but to her the smile seemed contagious as she also found herself smiling back at the boy who had just rescued her a few hours back.

-

"We checked the CCTV footage already. What do you have to say about locking her up?"

Even though the building had exploded and there was no trace left of the cctv cameras, Jeon Jungkook always had had his ways. He had made them check the footages from the backup and watched the scene unfold in front of his eyes. Everything. Starting from Yunhee licking Y/N up and then accidentally setting the whole building on fire.

Biryeom dragged his fingers through his dyed silver hair—a very good job at that—and glanced over at the patient getting interrogated by none other that Jungkook, lying on the hospital bed.

"Sir, it would be best if you don't pressure her too much. She seems to be really tired," the nurse was tending to Yunhee spoke, injecting some fluid into the said patient's body.

"I need my answers, Kang Yunhee. Why did you do that?" Jungkook totally ignored the nurse's words and spoke through gritted teeth, his voice obviously sounding menacing.

"Jungkook, let's do this later. She's already paying for what she did," Y/N held onto his arm, in means of cooling the beast in human form, down.

The nurse stared at Jungkook for a few more seconds before leaving the room, only a lot of tension and four people left alone in the room.

"No, I will answer them now," Yunhee managed to say without her voice cracking.

Biryeom senses that she was having difficulty sitting up straight and thus, helped her up.

"I will pay for the damage of the building," she paused, a frown forming on her face, "Even though there's not much left of it."

"And I did that to scare Y/N. To scare her away from you. My sincere apologies for that. However, I have come to a realisation that Y/N didn't deserve it and that I would value her over your attention or interest, Jeon Jungkook. That is, if she decides to forgive me after all the horrendous stuff I have made her go through," Yunhee finished off in a breathe, Y/N and Biryeom carefully watching the scene unfold and Jungkook being caught off guard.

Jungkook opened his mouth to speak but shut it right after, assumably at a loss of words from the sudden honest confession. Y/N had always been a sucker for lovey-dovey shit and she couldn't stop herself from melting at Yunhee's words. She knew her gut instincts couldn't be wrong and she believed that she was going for the right thing.

"All right, I forgive you. Best friends again?"

 Best friends again?"

It's 1 a.m rn and I have classes at 8:30 tomorrow but here we go. I just wanted to update early this week. I hope that the update wasn't that bad. After a stressing chapter, I wished to give you all a relaxing one.

Right before another blow.

Ooooookayyyyy. This book is gradually approaching its end and this was like a light romance/fluff genre. I have a heavier book coming up. I might publish it within next week idk. I'll be writing it besides this book as I seem to have found a stable updating schedule!

Love, Alfisha 💫
