an:// hello loves!! this was a requested imagine! if you have any requests, feel free to PM me or comment. love y'all <33
you weren't thrilled when you woke up in the morning to find the sky dark with thunderclouds. today was the first day you had off of work in the last few weeks and you were hoping to have spent it outside getting some much needed sunshine. you loved thunderstorms, but sometimes you wanted a little bit of sun too.
you didn't bother getting upset over it - you could still have a good day off. it wouldn't hurt to visit the gang over at the curtis' and nothing sounded better right now than staring at sodapop all day long. within an hour you had hitched a ride on the back of one of the pickups in town and only moved to hop off once you were a few blocks from the house.
it had already begun to sprinkle and you jogged, wanting to get there before you were drenched.
you pulled open the main gate of the house, shutting it after yourself and walking up the porch steps. the front door was wide open with only the screen door closed. rain began heavily falling from the sky as you rushed to pull open the screen and let it slam after you. somewhere from in the house, elvis was blasting on the radio and the rare sound of darry's laughter mixing with the other curtis brothers echoed after it.
you grinned as you made your way to the kitchen, leaning against the doorway as you watching the three boys dance around to the music as a pot of food sat cooking on the stove-top. the three noticed you after a few moments a chorus of your name echoed through the house.
soda bolted forward to wrap you in a tight hug, lifting you off the ground and twirling you around a few times. "okay okay! i get it!" you laughed out, grabbing onto his shoulders to steady yourself once he put you down.
"whatcha doing here y/n? i thought you were working all week?" ponyboy questioned with a grin as he gulped down some kind of beverage he had poured himself.
"i was supposed to but i got a much needed day off." you sighed, moving to hug darry in greeting as he removed the lid from the pot of food to check on it. you leaned forward, sniffing above the pot a bit to get a good whiff of the contents. "what's cookin'?"
"beef stew!" soda cheered, pumping his fist in excitement. "perfect meal for stormy days if i do say so myself."
darry shook his head jokingly at his younger sibling before turning to speak with you once more. "the boys should be here soon, we all wanted to eat and make the best of the hour long elvis special."
"ahh." you nodded. "that's why y'all were dancing like psychos when i showed up."
the trio laughed, each shooting you a nod. "you bet, doll." soda grinned, gesturing you to join him and pony as jailhouse rock's first cords began blasting through the radio speakers.
you joined without a second thought, dancing around the kitchen with two of your best friends and occasionally moving out of the way of darry as to not knock any of his dishes off the counters.
the song seemed to end in moments and by the end you were all left in a fit of giggles - both laughing at each other and the ridiculous moves each of you would come up with.
"and that was railhouse rock! 45 minutes left of our hour special, why don't you grab someone close to you and sway along to our next hit - can't help falling in love!" the radio host's voice crackled through the speakers and soon after the beginning notes of said song began playing softly.
in an instant, soda's eyes were on you. you had already began to move towards the kitchen table, planning on sitting this song out and waiting till the others arrived when he grinned devilishly and held out his hand towards you, an unspoken decision playing at what he was asking you. you smiled back, reaching out to grab his hand with your own and immediately he pulled you towards him, wrapping his other arm around your waist to hold you.
darry and pony exchanged glances with each other with knowing smiles on their faces before moving to sneak out of the kitchen without alerting either of you.
he swayed you around playfully, the both of you grinned at each other as the song played out.
"you know, we should dance together more often." he grinned as he moved his hand from your waist to twirl you in a circle.
"yeah?" you giggled as he pulled you back in, deciding to move your arms to wrap around his neck.
"yeah, you're a pretty good partner."
"i can be a pretty good partner in more than just dancing." you hinted as he spun you out, interlocking your fingers as you spun back around to press your back to his chest.
he froze for a second before a brilliant grin spread across his face. "i'm sure you would." came his hushed whisper as he gently grabbed your jaw, tilting your head upwards and slowly moving his lips to meet your own in a sweet kiss.
the kiss lasted more than just a few moments before you two finally pulled apart, gasping for your air. he grinned down at you as the song slowly came to a stop. "that was amazing."
"you're telling me." you laughed, turning to once again wrap your arms around his neck. "i've been wanting to do that for so long."
one of his hands came up to brush some hair out of your face. "you wanna go to the diner sometime? i mean, you know, just the two of us?"
"that sounds nice." you grinned brightly, pressing another kiss to his cheek as you heard the screen door open once more to signal the rest of the gang had finally arrived.
