Chapter 21: Sound Recorder; First Date

Lumingon ako sa pinto nang marinig ko ang tunog ng door bell. Binaba ko 'yong binabasa kong libro sa tapat kong glass table. Tumayo ako mula sa pagkakahiga sa sofa at nagtungo sa pinto para buksan ito.

"'Pag ikaw 'yan Fauze, babangasan kita," bulong ko sa sarili ko.

Pagbukas ko ng pinto ay wala akong taong nakita sa labas. Tumingin ako sa kaliwa tapos sa kanan pero wala namang tao sa pasilyo.

I suddenly got goosebumps. I don't believe in ghosts, really. But, I can't help myself but to be scared.

Sinuot ko ito sa tainga ko at sinaksak 'yong connector ng earphones sa recorder at pinindot 'yong play button.

The first sound I heard was a strum of guitar. I was like hypnotizing by the sound of it. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam. The next is a manly voice.

"What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time~"

Natigilan ako nang marinig ko ang pamilyar na boses. My heart is pounding so damn fast because I know it's his voice!

And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you~"

I gulped once while still my eyes grew wider because of shock. It can't be. This can't be. This is exactly his voice. I'm sure of that.

"All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here~"

The way he makes me feel the music. The way he makes me feel the emotion of the song. The way he sings the song like he was talking to me.

"'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to prove

And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you~"

It's been a year since the last time I heard his voice. I closed my eyes and I felt the warm liquid flows down in my cheeks.

"Something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right~"

Hindi ko na tinapos ang kanta at in-off ko na ito saka ko tinanggal ang eraphones sa tainga ko.

Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit niya 'ko pinadalhan ng ganito. Matagal na kaming tapos at wala ng dahilan para bigyan niya 'ko nito.
