"Stop squirming!" enforces Maria.
"It's not my fault!" laughs Eve.
Night drew closer, and the two had to be dressed and ready, so Maria took Eve to a dressing room where after the events of the previous night, they got to know each other a lot better.
Long story short using her chains in any way she could, Eve tried to escape a total of ten times before Maria was stationed as a permanent watch the whole night, and they had a blast.
They didn't realize how much they actually had in common.
Maria had already done her hair and was trying to get Eve to sit still so she could do hers "You are making this harder on yourself!"
"But it tickles!!!"
Maria grabs her shoulder, stabilizing her. "Stay! No moving!" she commands, Eve stays still trying to hold back her laughter as Maria brushes her hair back into a bun, strands of hair hanging down from it framing her face while Maria's hair is a half up half down style.
Looking in the mirror Eve peers at the reflection of the dress, she'll be forced to wear "Do you really there's any chance of serving tonight?" she blurts. Maria takes her hands away from her hair sighing "I don't want to say there's no hope-"
"But, there is none."
"No...just think happy thoughts, it is a ball, after all, all we can do is enjoy ourselves."
This gave Eve a small smile, the night was young, and a whole evening was ahead. The two stand and each takes their own dresses, changing into them. Stepping out the two gaze at the other.
Eve wore a red dress that almost entirely covered her shoulders and flows down into a simple sweetheart neckline. It's a snug fit which gives the dress a classy and polished look. Her arms have been covered only halfway down. The sleeves are a loose fit, waist is narrow, but it's a loose fit as well. It's left simple, elegant, and decorated with rose designs, creating a look that flows from top to bottom where it reaches down almost covering her feet.
Meanwhile, Maria wore a blue dress that leaves the top of her shoulders, uncovered loping around the top of the arms, flowing down into a beautiful sweetheart v-neck. The waist was a tight fit, embroidered star designs blended the top and the skirt together. The dress looked like a dark blue sky with stars, a full-on ball gown.
The two look at each other before looking back to they're hangers looking at the mask they were supposed to wear, Maria's being a silver one with stars and Eve's being a gold one with roses. They begin laughing, "Wanna switch?" asks Eve.
"Won't Caius be mad?"
"You think I care, plus this dress is more 1860's style. Supposed to wear the style of clothing the decade you lived in."
"That would look good on me, wouldn't it?"
This causes the two to laugh again before switching outfits, coming back out they both smile at their respective changes "Much better." states Maria lifting up her skirt, Eve rolls her eyes "Speak for yourself, look at this thing." she says patting the dress, twirling around it spins with her taking up practically half the room.
Just then the door opens, and Jane walks in wearing a black dress of her own, but stops at the sight of the two girls "You are wearing the wrong dresses." she points out, Eve shrugs "We like these better...you look good."
Jane is a little taken aback by the compliment but maintains her smile "Thank you...now hold still." she finishes holding up a spray. Eve puts her hands up, "What's that?"
"You've been locked up for some time, and frankly, you smell, this makes it better." Jane answers spraying, the room clouds up from the spray, and the overbearing smell of it. Maria and Eve cough fanning it out of their faces.
Eve smells the air only being able to detect the perfume "I can't smell."
"I can't even smell you, you smell like France," states Maria. Eve looks to Jane, "How's anyone supposed to know who I am? Frankly, how am I supposed to smell anyone else."
Jane shrugs "It is a costume ball. The point is not to know who you're talking to. Caius expects you both in the ballroom in twenty minutes, earlier if you can." she finishes and leaves. The reality of it all seemed to crash onto Eve's shoulders as she takes a breath, not even recognizing herself in the mirror.
"I can dream that this is just a fairytale...the prince comes and saves the princess," she whispers, choking up. Maira puts a hand on her shoulder "Fairy tales aren't truth, us princesas' can save ourselves."
"What do you mean? I thought you had a deal with Caius?"
"I do, but then your words struck me, Eve, no one should lose the one they love. And another thing how could Caius give me land that's not even his, I was so stupid and now look were both trapped by his word." she sighs.
Eve grabs both their masks and hands Maria's hers before holding out her arm. "Well, if this is it, I certainly don't want to go to my first ball with Caius. Lady Maria, would you allow me to escort you?" she asks.
Maira slips on her mask, looping her arm with Eve's "Why Mistress Eve I would have it no other way."
They smile and step in time to leave to what they would make a fantastic night even out of sorrow.

"Why do I get stuck with the flapper girl look?" asks Skye, pulling down her skirt more as they walk. The town was abuzz costumes left and right, music pouring from every window, and the castle all lit up the main event clearly.
"Speak for yourself, I get stuck looking like the guy from Phantom of the Opera," states Whitman, Major scoffs. "Only you could make that reference."
"Says the guy who gets to dress from modern-day and the wildest." finishes Skye looking to Seth, who just wore a regular suit and Major, who was looking like a nicely dressed cowboy. Seth shrugs "You should have come shopping with us then-"
"Stop." states Major pushing them all into an ally before they reached the fountain.
"What is it?" ask Whitman, Major points to Seth and Skye "Them, I can smell them a mile away, a room full of vampires will have no problem doing the same," he states. Skye shifts, trying to pull the dress down again, and Seth scratches the back of his neck.
"Hey, remember that spell I taught you, the one you used to prank dad into thinking Seth was a vampire?" ask Whitman, Seth laughs "Oh yeah, I even smelled like one."
"What spell?" asks Skye. Whitman takes out a small notebook from his pocket, beforehand he wrote down spells that could be useful for the night "It's a spell that will change your physical appearance and smell. Don't worry, you won't actually be vampires just look and smell like it, Major!"
Major moves to look at the notebook with his brother and nods, the two step up to their companions and place a hand in front of their faces reciting "Yksi kahteen, kahdesta kolmeen, toisen ollessa sinä olet!"
The two wipes their hands downwards, as they do Seth and Skye's appearances change slightly. Both their eyes turn red as well as fangs forming in their mouths, Seth's skin becomes more creamy while Skye's becomes paler.
They instantly touch their teeth and smile, "Wicked." states Skye. Whitman takes Skye's arm, and Seth holds out his arm to Major, who happily takes it much to Seth's surprise. The four walk up to the castle pulling out the invitation.
An immortal guard takes the invitation and looks at them, scanning them while they hold their breath. They smile, and the guard moves to the side, letting them in. The doors open for them into a hall where they step upstairs with other vampires around them.
"We're in," states Major.
"Now to find mom," whispers Whitman.
"And get the hell out of here." agrees Skye; Seth nods, locking eyes with her "Yeah, especially before anyone realizes that they can suck the life out of us."
