“Heather. I can tell you now, if you don’t mind being late to class.” She said her lower lip quivering as she spoke. “You know me and my parents don’t care if I’m late. Follow me.” I said as I took her hand and led her to the staircase at the back of the school. When we got there we sat on the third step and I looked at her. “Lauren. What is it? You’re not acting like yourself at all. Tell me!” I said nervously. “Heather. Lucas broke up with me.” She said as tears started to roll down her cheeks. “Oh my gosh, Lauren. What happened?” I said as I hugged her. “He dropped me off at home after my soccer practice on Wednesday, and we sat in my driveway for a long time, just looking at each other. And finally, he came out and said it. He said he couldn’t go out anymore because we never see each other, and he said it was better if we were just friends.” She started to cry again. “You know what?” I said standing up. Lauren turned to look at me. “You are way better without him. So tomorrow night, at my party. You can find a way better boyfriend than him.” She started to smile. “I guess you right.” she said, standing up as well. We hooked arms, and started off towards the gym.
