When we arrived back at the school, we still had 10 minutes until class. I decided to go to the washroom and fix my make-up and get ready for class. When we got inside the school Josh waited for me outside the washroom. As I pulled out my lip gloss, Chelsea came around the corner waving her mascara wand at me. “Hi Heather!” she said as she came and stood next to me, looking at me through the, mirror. “I see you have a new bracelet.” I looked down at my wrist, face flushing red. “Uh, yeah. Umm, my dad. He, uh, gave it to me. For my birthday.” I said trying to focus on my make-up bag. “Well let’s see it then.” She said as she took my wrist and grabbed the tag. “Hmm, well if it’s from your dad, the why does it say Josh and Heather forever?” she asked. “Actually, truth is that it’s my birthday present from Josh. He gave it to me today at lunch.” I said. My cheeks were getting really hot, and my palms starting to sweat. “Oh, that’s exactly what I thought. You know, I still have the necklace he gave me in grade 8, right before he broke up with me for some little rich girl.” She said snickering. I stared at her for a long time and then, I finally blew up. “When are you going to give it a rest? He liked me more than you, and he finally saw your true colours! He saw that you’re a backstabber and you’re not truthful!” tears started towel up in my eyes. “And as of for me, I am not a little rich girl, ok? Yeah, I may be rich, but I sure don’t act stuck up like you. So you know what? Just stay away from me and my boyfriend!” I screamed as I ran out of the washrooms. I ran out the washroom door, right past Josh. I just kept running. “Heather, where are you going?” he yelled. I just ignored him. I ran right out of the school doors and sat down on the steps to the school. I pulled out my phone and dialled Roger’s number. “Hello, Miss Smith.” He said into the phone. “Roger, I need you to come pick me up. Now. I’m sitting on the steps to the school. Get here as soon as possible. Thanks.” I hung up the phone. With my head buried in my hands, I just started to cry.
