“Well it looks like you guys are happy again.” said Adam as Josh and I walked down the stairs to join the party again. “Yeah, it was just a little misunderstanding.” I said as Adam playfully punched Josh in the shoulder. “Well good because it would be very awkward hanging out together. You guys are perfect for each other.” said Lauren. I smiled and kissed Josh on the cheek. “Ugh, they make me want to puke. They look terrible together. I should really give them a newsflash.” I heard Chelsea say behind my back. I just tried my best to ignore her and have a good time. “Let’s go dance.” I said to Josh as I took his hand and walked to the media room. We walked in the room to find guys on the football team throwing my mom’s vase that she got from Peru, all around the room. “Guy’s, cut it out!!!” I screamed at them as I took the vase a hid it under the kitchen counter. I went back to the media room looking for Josh. ‘Where is he?’ I thought looking around. ‘Maybe Adam would know.’ I thought. “Adam, where’s Josh? I can’t find him anywhere.” I asked. He took a quick swig of his beer. “I saw him walk to the left wing hallway with Chelsea just a little while ago.” He said. My lower lip started to quiver. ‘Just have faith in your boyfriend,’ I thought. “Here follow me.” he said. I followed him over to where they were said to be, and sure enough, they were there. But instead of them talking, Josh was bolting away. “Heather, we need to go.” he said his face being bright red. He pulled me to the front door and I stopped. “Josh, how do you expect me to leave my own party? And what happened between you and Chelsea?” I said almost out of breath. “Heather, it doesn’t even matter and I don’t know. I just don’t feel good. You know?” he said. He looked so……. so regretful almost. “Well I can’t leave and I thought you were sleeping over.” I said sounding almost desperate. “Please stay.” He looked at his feet and kicked the ground. “I just need to go lie down. Can I go to your room for a little bit?” he asked. I rubbed his back a little bit. “Sure, anytime. I hope you feel better.” I watched him trudge away. Something was up, and he wouldn’t tell me. But because he’s my boyfriend, and I trust him, I’m not going to push him to tell me. I looked at my phone and saw the time. ‘2:00 a.m. already?’ I walked back over to where Adam and Lauren were standing. “Guys I have to shut ‘er down, sorry.” I said. “Sorry.” They looked at each other and almost laughed. “You’re kidding, right?” Adam asked. I shook my head. “Okay, well at least let me do the honours.” Adam said winking. He stood up on one of the tables and screamed. “Party’s over! Everyone out!” He hopped of the table, kissed me on the cheek, and walked out. I got so many ‘Thank-you’ and ‘your party rocked,’ as people left. Once everyone was gone, I walked sleepily over to the white board and left a message for Giselle. It said:
Please have the house cleaned for when my parents get home. Thanks.
When I got upstairs, I heard Josh on the phone. With us being able to trust each other, I normally wouldn’t be eavesdropping, but there was something weird about this phone call. “Yes, I am still at her place,” I heard him say. “No, I’m not going to tell her. Well maybe not yet, but I wouldn’t know how to tell her without hurting her.” That was enough. I walked in and interrupted him. “Tell me what?” I said. He looked at me, his face turning red. “Tell me.” He hung up the phone. “Heather, I mean this when I say it. It’s nothing. Please trust me.” He said he got up and hugged me. “Okay. You sleep here, I’m going out back to the hammock’s.” I said. I grabbed a blanket and pillow and made my way to the door. He was obviously drunk, you could tell in his voice. “Heather, wait!” he said as he tried to get off the bed but fell flat on your face. “Look at yourself.” I said laughing. “You’re a mess. You’re the drunk of the party. And on top of that, you’re hiding something for me, and you treated me like crap at the game today! Right now the only reason you’re still here is because I don’t want you to go to jail for drunk driving.” I said and with that I was out the door. When I got down to the hammocks, I literally fell asleep as soon as I hit the pillow. And the rest was all a blur.
