Beep! Beep! Beep! “AHHHHHHHHHHH!” I screamed as I sat up in my bed. First Giselle appeared in my door way, the my parents who were obviously woken up by my screams, and lastly Jacque who had food stain on his outfit already. “Miss. Smith, what seems to be the problem?” asked Giselle sounding very concerned. “Nothing just uh a bad dream I guess.” My mother rolled her eyes. “So you’re saying you woke us up for ‘a bad dream’?” she asked. “Were going back to sleep. She said as she led my daddy by his tie back to their master bedroom. I rubbed my eyes and tried to get my thoughts straight. “If you need anything let us know.” Giselle said as she shut the door. I didn’t know what had happened. My dream was so perfect. It was exactly what I wanted. Exactly what I wished would happen tonight, but we all know that could never be reality. I called Lauren and told her I would meet her at the game tonight. I was so nervous
I spent most of the day by the pool with Chico and I had nothing to do so I decided to take him for a walk. We did a loop around my street once and decided to go around a second time. On our second lap I saw Josh’s car in front of Chelsea’s house. It wasn’t too bad living on her street because I never saw her, but seeing the boy I love’s car at her house just put butterflies in my stomach. I saw Chelsea and josh coming out the front door so I quickly ducked behind a rose bush to get a better look. I was pretty close so I could make out what they were saying to one another. “No Chelsea, you know this will never happen so stop trying. Just because heather has a new boyfriend doesn’t mean I need to get a new girlfriend just to make her jealous. I’m not ready for one because I love her and I always will. And I will not lose her without a fight. So get it through your thin head that I like her, not you, her.” Josh said as he got into his car and drove away. Chelsea then disappeared into the garage.
I leaned back against the bricks and felt the cold from them tingle my bare shoulders. I just thought about the words he used. ‘How much compassion he had put into that statement. How he said he loves me. And won’t let me go without a fight. And how just because I had a boyfriend he didn’t need to get a new girlfriend and how.. WAIT! WHAT! A new boyfriend?! In what life?! I love josh! No one else but Josh!’ I needed to get to the bottom of this. I got up and pulled Chico from the rose bush he was chewing at and marched straight over to Chelsea’s house. I found her sitting in her garage, drawing. “So when were you planning on telling me about my new boyfriend? You know, the one I didn’t even know I had.” She looked at me and smiled. “Well I figured I could replace you with one sentence. And I was pretty damn close.” She smiled and walked up to me, so our noses were just an inch away. “He WILL be mine. I guarantee you.” I took a deep breath. “I would like to see you try. He loves me and I love him. End of story.” She stared deep into my eyes. “if you really loved him, you would have been there for him today when his parents announced their divorce and his mom announced she was moving halfway across the country.” She shoved me with both hands and threw me to the ground. I felt the pain rush into my back but I didn’t flinch, instead, I stood up and ran home. Ran and ran and ran and ran.
