I woke up with the sun the next morning. I reached my arm blindly at the table to get my phone, when I felt, something soft. Almost like a…….. Hand! I jumped almost falling out of the hammock and turned to see Josh just sitting there, very calm. “Jesus Christ, you scared me!” I said shaking my head. “Well sorry about that. And good morning.” He said. “Did you want to tell me now about the conversation on the phone last night or are you just going to wait until I find out.” I glared at him. “Heather, listen.” I cut him off. “I’ve had enough of listening to excuses for your screw-ups. You need to be completely honest with me.” He sat there, looking at me for a really long time. “I got offered a scholarship to Clarkson. And I think I might take it.” I looked at him really funny. “You thought I would be mad? I’m so happy for you!” I hugged him. And with a slight delay, he hugged me back. We sat there for a long time just hugging. I know it was going to be hard without him at my college, but it couldn’t be that bad. “Thank you for just telling me everything. I bet it feels really good to have just let it out. Now why don’t we hop into the hot tub and have a little bit of fun.” I grabbed his hand and pulled him in. And that was how my afternoon went.
