When I got home I let Chico go and I ran up to my room and threw on some ripped jeans and a cropped top, grabbed my phone, car keys, my purse, and a pair of flip flops and headed to the game. In the car there, I kept calling josh over and over, getting the machine every time. When I arrive at the field is a complete mess. My hairs distraught and my makeup smudged. I get out of the car and I race to the locker room. To get to josh's locker I have to walk through both teams dressing rooms.
As I walk through the opposing teams rooms I get the regular whistles and hoots, but as I enter our dressing room its different. Complete silence. I reach Josh's locker and he’s not there. “Adam!” I scream. He saunters over like it’s nothing. I grab him by the collar of the jersey. “Where is Josh?!” I ask. “He’s on the phone in the hallway to the field.” He said as I let go of his jersey. I enter the hallway and see him sitting against the wall on the phone. His eyes are closed and I can see tear stains down his cheeks. “Mom please doesn’t go. I need you now more than ever.” He whispers into the phone. “I love you.” He hangs up the phone and opens his eyes to see me. I slowly walk towards him as he stands up to face me. “Josh, I’m so sorry.” I said. He doesn’t say a word, but pulls me in for a hug, and I can’t hear him, but feel him crying into my shoulder. I lean back and hold his head, feeling his soft skin in my hands. “It’s okay Josh, everything will be okay. I’m here for you and I am never going to leave you.” I wiped a tear from his face and just looked at him. He grabbed my hands which still held his head in place. “I want you back.” He whispered. “I really do.” I looked at him. “You never lost me. I’ve been in your heart this entire time.” He smiled and looks at the floor, us letting go of each other’s hands. “So does this mean were back together, because I can’t spend another day away from you.” He kissed me on the forehead. “Aha, well let’s focus on one thing at a time, and you need to focus on winning this game for your mom.”
“BUTLER.” His coached called. And with that he was in the dressing room, 20 minutes til game time.
