“Wake up. Heather, com’on, wake up already!” said Lauren into my ear as she shook me to wake me up. I slowly opened my eyes and saw her, hunched over top of me, still shaking me and yelling at me. “Stop yelling!” I screamed in her face. “I’m already awake.” I sat up in my bed and leaned up against the backboard. “Did you really feel the need to wake me up this early?” I said wiping my eyes. “Newsflash Heather, its 4:30 p.m. The big game starts in half an hour! We got to get going!” she said as she started going through my closet. “Here, wear this. Put it on and I will go get you some food. Hurry up.” Said as she threw me an outfit and bolted down the stairs. “I slowly rolled out of bed and started to put on the clothes. In the middle of me putting on my makeup, a car horn blared. “Well I’m guessing she’s driving.” I said as I quickly finished my makeup. I grabbed my phone, makeup case, and coach satchel, and I was out the door. When we arrived at the school, it was packed. “Now you see why I wanted to get here early.” Lauren said sounding annoyed. She found a parking spot at the back of the parking lot, which meant a lot of walking. “You better start heading towards the gym if you want to see Josh before the game.” She said reaching to get me a ticket. “Thanks, you rock.” I said taking the ticket from her. I took my heels, which weren’t the best choice to wear, off, and started running towards the stadium field. When I got to the ticket collector, I gave him my ticket and ran towards the field to see the team in their pre-game huddle. I put my shoes back on and walked to the fenced in seat right behind the bench, and waited for the huddle to end. I spotted Josh looking around the stadium for me. We made eye contact and I smiled. He pointed towards the stairs that lead to the field. I walked over and met him at the bottom. He pulled off his helmet. Even when he was sweaty he was hot. “I didn’t think you were going to show up.” He said hugging me. “You know I would never do that.” I said as I kissed him. “That should help you score.” I said walking away. “I get another one at half-time, right?” he said. “BUTLER!” yelled his coach. He jogged back in to his team. I made my way back to our seats, and found that Lauren was already there with popcorn, smarties, and drinks. “You ready for the game?” she said as she took a handful of popcorn and shoved it in her mouth. “You know it! And I plan to see Josh at half-time for a little bit.” I said taking a sip of my diet coke. Both teams lined up at center, and Josh looked at me. He smiled and bit his tongue. That’s our little thing we do. The ref blew his whistle. Dropped the ball. And the game was off.
