...And when I felt like I was an old cardigan,
Under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite....Taylor Swift--- Cardigan
•••• •••• •••• ••••"Have you ever hidden something from your husband?" Amirah asked Lara. It was a Sunday afternoon and they'd been invited to lunch at Lara and Akin's large home.
They were both upstairs in Lara's room, she'd been chattering nonstop as usual and Amirah had just listened quietly, her mind weighed."Well yes, I definitely did at some point but one thing I know is that I regretted it. Whatever it is you're hiding from Muhammad my love, it's best you come clean and stop worrying about his reaction, he'll still love you regardless."
Regardless of me having a child? Amirah almost blurted out but managed to keep quiet and gave Lara a stiff nod in reply.
"And if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you." Lara said with a sweet smile.
Amirah gave her a tight-lipped smile. "I know and for that, I'm grateful."
"I have some gossip and Akin had asked me to not to discuss it with you but I just couldn't help it." Lara said with a sheepish look, Amirah raised her eyebrow in response.
"Apparently there's been some hospital talk about one of the nurses being interested in your husband." Lara lowered her voice, "she's been following him around and trying to get him for herself."
Ummul Khair, Amirah immediately thought.
"I've met her but, it's okay. Muhammad is trustworthy, she'll eventually get tired." Amirah said with a nonchalance she faked meanwhile she was wondering if she should bring up the issue with Ummul Khair.
"Oh dear! You don't know some of these Lagos girls, they never get tired rather it's the men that'll even get tired and accept them but like you said, Muhammad is trustworthy."
Amirah nodded her head as she wondered if Ummul Khair was persistent enough to change Muhammad's mind.
"So... How's Ummul Khair?" Amirah asked on their drive back home. Muhammad glanced at her before turning back to the road.
"She's fine, why'd you ask?"
"Oh nothing, just curious." Amirah said with a shrug.
"I see..." Muhammad said waiting for her to continue, he knew she would.
"Is she still single?"
Muhammad smiled a little. "I don't know."
"Oh you don't? Weird I thought you were both close seeing as you used to hang out at her place."
"Just say it."
Amirah turned to him with a confused expression, "say what?"
"What's on your mind."
"I'm just making conversation, is that wrong?"
"About if Ummul Khair is single or not? There's everything weird about making conversation with that."
"Okay fine. Lara said something about her being interested in you."
"Oh she did?"
"Yes she did Muhammad and you know it's true."
"Is it?" He asked in a playful tone.
"I'm not doing that with you, I promise." Amirah said turning to face the window, Muhammad's laughter filled the car and she rolled her eyes.
