Amirah wasn't at home or she was intentionally refusing to open up the gate so he got down and used his key to open it, Abubakar drove the key in and Muhammad locked up behind him.

"Where do you think your Amirah went to?"

Abubakar asked teasingly, Muhammad chose to ignore him and went into the house. He knocked on the door to her room and when she didn't reply after few knocks, he poked his head into her room and called out,

"Amirah?" There was no answer.

"Man she isn't at home, stop shouting." Abubakar said from the kitchen. Muhammad closed the door and went to meet him wondering where she could've gone to, to his best of knowledge, she didn't know anyone, she wasn't a social butterfly so she had no friends.

"I'm going to make noodles." Abubakar declared.

"But you hate noodles and besides, there's stew we can make rice and there's soup, you can make eba." Muhammad said checking the covered pots.

"It's noodles I want." He was already bringing out the noodles from the top shelf.

"You're being weird, okay I'll make the eba." Muhammad offered. Was seeing Ummul Khair's call affecting him this much? Abubakar really hated noodles.

"I don't like the soup." He said as he continued to get everything ready for the noodles.

"Okay o shaa make plus me, I'm going to take a shower."

In his room, just as he was about calling Amirah, his sister's call came in.

It surprised him, despite it being just the both of them, they weren't close. Zulaihat was quiet, too quiet, she spoke only when spoken too and her stare, it was like she could see through you when she stared at you. She was just too strange.

"Assalamualaikum Yaya." She greeted.

"Walaykumsalam, how're you doing?"

"Alhamdulilah, you?"

"I'm fine. I'll be coming to Lagos to attend a writers meet, it's for a week so I wanted to ask for your permission to stay at your place."

"Uhmm okay... I'll talk to Amirah about it and get back to you."

Zulaihat staying with them would be a problem, he didn't want anyone else to know what was going on between him and Amirah, most especially his sister.

"Why does he want to ask his wife? Dama will she refuse you coming to stay in your own brother's house?" He heard his mother's screaming in the background and he sighed, he really didn't sign up for this.

"Muhammad!" She'd collected the phone from Zulaihat.

"So your sister wants to come and stay with you for just a week and you're telling here you want to ask Amirah first. Is something wrong with you?"

"Assalamualaikum Mama. Firstly, Amirah is my wife and if Zulaihat is coming, she isn't going to be just my guest, she's our guest and I need to ask my wife's opinion before I do anything. Islamically, that's the right thing to do."

"Oh you're the one who went to Islamiyya ko? Me I'm an illiterate when it comes to Islamic teachings?"

This was getting out of hand, "I'm sorry Mama but that's just how it is."
