Muhammad drove out of the house angrily, he'd said he'll sleep at a hotel but he found himself en route to Ummul Khair's place. How did Amirah know he'd had anything to do with her? He needed answers, he needed to know if Ummul Khair had been the one who told her.

So he parked in front of her house and got into the compound heading straight to her apartment. She opened the door, dressed in a big T-shirt that reached her mid things, her hair was covered in a bonnet and she had a cup of ice cream in hand.

Ummul Khair eyed him up and down, "can I help you?"

"Can I come in?" He tried not to remember what had happened the last time he'd been here.

She eyed him warily before going in, a wordless invite to him, he followed her in. She sat and crossed her legs, his gaze dragged to her long bare legs, he quickly averted it but she'd caught him.

"Why are you here Muhammad? I don't remember us being friends"

"Amirah knew I was here, did you tell her?"

She looked at him for a few seconds before bursting into laughter.

"Did I?" She bursted into laughter again and Muhammad felt embarrassment creep up on him.

"Why would I do that? How would I even come in contact with her? You're something else."

He realized Amirah hadn't said she knew he had been at Ummul Khair's place, she only said he knew he'd been frolicking around. Did she know something or she just suspected?

"I'm sorry for disturbing you." He stood up.

"In a hurry to leave? You seem bothered, you can talk to me."

"I'd rather not." He said sincerely and she laughed.

"Just talking Muhammad, the other day you'd let me unburden on you so you can do same now. Is it your wife?"

He sat down back and sighed, he was really exhausted. He hadn't imagined their marriage will go this way and why was it that whenever things seemed to be finally going well, somehow it just all goes wrong again?

He didn't even understand Amirah, she was so closed off he couldn't get past through her, and her nightmares? Something was terribly wrong and he wished he knew what it was, was it him? Was it something from her past? Does she hate him or she's just incapable of love? A lot of unanswered questions about her and he was beginning to wonder if this marriage was meant to ever work, there'd been red flags at the beginning but he'd chosen to ignore them, he loved her and that was all that mattered but now he's realized, a relationship can't survive based on just love.

"I've come to realize that I don't know Amirah and I'm scared because I really love her and I want us to work but every fight, every argument is making me hope we aren't heading to doom." His voice was quiet, sincere.

"Does she love you?"

Muhammad thought about her question carefully, three years after Jamilah's death, Amirah had been the first woman to capture his attention, her beauty did but he was drawn more by how she looked at her surrounding, she was with Khadijah who was talking excitedly but Amirah looked bored, as if the whole world was boring her and when her eyes met his unwavering gaze, her lips had lifted up slightly and her eyes lighted up as if saying  ' now here's something interesting'
But with time the light in her eyes had died down, she was bored of him too, just like she was bored of the whole world so...
