•••• •••• •••• ••••Amirah unlocked the gate with her key, as soon as she got into the compound, she noticed Muhammad's car wasn't anywhere around indicating he wasn't in the house, she didn't know whether to be relieved or worried.
Since he'd left, she had been thinking of how to resolve the issue, telling the truth wasn't an option... Apologizing seemed like the best thing but he'd requested for an explanation and in all honesty, she had none to give. She regretted what had happened with AbdulRahman, it wasn't worth the troubles aftermath. She liked her job far too much to consider quitting, working made her feel better, whenever she stayed home, her thoughts ran wild but since she'd started working and kept busy, she had buried all thoughts about her mother and brother. The only person she'd spoken to from home was Khadijah and even that was on very few occasions.
Hamidah had always been too busy for the rest of the family and Amirah used to be angry at her for that but now she was getting to understand that if you wanted to maintain your sanity, staying away was the best. She didn't know her sister's story but she sincerely prayed it wasn't as bad as hers.
At sixteen, Amirah began to see her school's counselor, it helped for awhile and she had a journal where she wrote a lot of things, her feelings, thoughts and experiences but that was until her mother had found it, read it and burnt it.She'd warned her that someone would find the journal and read about what had happened with Adnan, her mother made her stop seeing the counselor, but at least by then her nightmares had reduced. Ever since that day Hajiya had called her to talk about her brother, they'd returned fully, she'd chosen to not spend another night with Muhammad, she didn't want him to know about that part of her life, she didn't want anybody to but with her nightmares causing her sleeplessness, she was thinking of seeing a psychologist, deep down she knew she needed one.
Amirah had had numerous boyfriends, she was beautiful and it attracted guys to her, she was also a mystery to them, one minute, she was shy and sweet, the next, she was a snob and rude.
Although she'd had relationships with different men, she could never said she's been truly in love with any, they were just fun for sometime and some were for the sexual experience and pleasure, nothing else. She'd never thought anything was wrong with her but she began suspecting from her relationship with Muhammad where she'd found herself married, she didn't know how to cope, she was stuck with someone for life. She genuinely cared about Muhammad but not love, he was fun, sweet, caring and could be funny sometimes but there were times she was tired of him, tired of him obsessing over her or whatever it was and then came AbdulRahman, he finally confirmed her fears that something was terribly wrong, she'd found him intriguing at first and really attractive but now she just wanted him to fucking leave her alone and it wasn't because she was married, she in all honesty was bored with him too but there was something about watching him being overly protective over her today, it tingled something in her.
"Oh Allah, I think I'm crazy." She said loosening her scarf and running her hands through her hair. She picked up her phone and scrolled through her contact, there was one person's voice that always sooth her, one person she truly loved more than anything else in the world.
