Later that Night

"Bruh this is fucking insane.", Kennedy whispers on the phone with Angel and pacing back and forth in the living room.

"So this girl you hired is August's ex girlfriend? Damn.", Angel says eating a pickle with peanut butter.

"They were together four years Angel, four years! You think he'd go back to her? No, of course not.", she scoffs.

"You know that man loves you, hell he's in love with you. Ain't nobody in the past, present, or future gone stray him away from you, and I'm sure he's told you something similar to that before.", she says.

"I mean he has but-", she starts but gets cut off.

"Bae! You coming to bed?", August asks from their room.

"Yeah! I'm just getting some water babe.", Kennedy says, "Yo I gotta go, I'll call you tomorrow.", she whispers back to Angel.

"Okie dokie, love you.", Angel says taking another bite of her pickle.

"Love you too, bye.", she says hanging up and walking back upstairs.

The Next Day

"You promise you're okay now?", August asks pulling up to the salon.

"Yeah, I'm fine.", Kennedy says turning her head to look at him.

"Are you sure? Cause I don't want Ash calling me saying you fought her na.", he says making her laugh a little.

"Yessss, I'm fine. I promise.", she says fixing her necklace.

"Alright, I have a meeting to get to. I'll see you later.", he says puckering up his lips.

"Aight, I love you.", she says pecking his lips.

"I love you too.", he says pulling away and watching her get out of the car.

Kennedy

I'm honestly not okay. I respect Mariah's respect towards us, and I respect Aug for being honest, but I just don't know how to take this. Like I have to see her at work every day so I'm reminded that she had August in a way that I probably never will. I don't know, man.

"So guess what I found out last night?", Kennedy asks turning on the lights.

"What?", Ashley asks starting to play music on her phone.

"You know Mariah, the new girl? She's Aug's ex.", she says making her turn around slowly.

"Nigga she who ex?", she asks raising her eyebrow.

"That's what I said! Like I sat here looking bout dumb as fuck introducing these niggas and they have history! History, Ashley!", she says huffing and sitting down in her chair.

"How much of a history?", she asks.

"Four years, maybe even longer than that. I don't know how long they knew each other before they dated, so.", she shrugs.

"So what you gone do when she gets here?", Ashley asks.

"I don't know.", Kennedy says standing back up and organizing her station.

"Don't beat her ass bruh.", she says looking at her.

"I'm not!", she says laughing, "I'm not mad at her, but I'm sure she knew who I was before yesterday. I mean he's a fucking celebrity for crying out loud.", she says bending down to fix her shoe.

"It's actually quite easy to not keep up with someone, regardless of their status.", she says.

"True, but I don't know what I'm gonna do.", she says standing up straight.
