Telling by the way she was looking at me right now, I could tell where this conversation was about to go.

"How long were you with her?", Kennedy asks.

"2014 to 2018, we broke up for good after my sister died.", August says, "However, I knew her a little before the fame came. I'd say maybe about one, two years. I met her while I was still in Houston.", he says looking at her, seeing that she wants him to keep going. "I didn't see her as someone who I wanted to be in a relationship with, but I didn't really see myself with anyone at that time. That was until I was about to leave to go to Atlanta.", he says scratching his neck.

"You know it was the typical shit, her telling me she had feelings for me and me telling her that I didn't think me and her were gonna work beyond a friendship. As you can see, I changed my mind and gave it a shot.", August shrugs, making Kennedy bite her bottom lip in sheer nervousness. "Am I making you uncomfortable talking about this?", he asks.

"I mean I asked, I have no reason to feel uncomfortable.", she shrugs lying, but her words had some truth to it.

"Uh.. okay", he says knowing she's lying, but mentally agreeing with her.

"Truthfully, the relationship was toxic from the start. Didn't realize that until the end though. She'd start petty arguments with me for no reason or just because she was bored, and her jealously? Through the fucking roof, like worse than you. She actually fought a few girls in my presence.", August says making Kennedy roll her eyes at the jealously comment.

"I don't blame her for the jealousy, groupies and fans think just because you're a celebrity that you're automatically entitled to cater to their every want like nooooo. However, I'm not fighting anyone unless the flirting and disrespect is coming constantly from the same bitch.", she shrugs, "Anyways, continue.", she says doing the 'go on' motion with her hand.

"Aight, before I go on I need you to promise you won't spazz on me no matter what I say.", August says.

"Fine, whatever.", Kennedy says slightly rolling her eyes and snuggling under the blanket.

"Ain't no 'fine, whatever' I need to hear the words come out ya mouth.", he says looking down at her.

"I promise I won't spazz, now go.", she says looking at him.

"Okay.", he says taking a deep breath. "Alright, so you remember when I told you there was cheating on both ends? Yeah, this is where the craziness happens.", August scoffs and shakes his head.

"Who cheated first?", Kennedy asks.

"I did.", he mumbles, making her eyes widen.

"Oh, you did now? Elaborate.", she says really starting to get interested.

"I honestly don't know what the fuck I was thinking being in a relationship in the beginning of my career, and that clearly showed because.. wow temptation is a bitch.", he says shaking his head, making her roll her eyes once again, "What? It is.", he shrugs.

"I'll let you have that.", she says. "Mhm. Anyways, yeah I cheated and when she found outttt.. oh man goddamn.", he laughs a little, "Her ass went ballistic babe.", he says looking down at his hands.

"What she do?", Kennedy asks getting kinda excited.

"Not you being entertained by this. Anyways, I wasn't home when she found out, I was actually across the damn country and we still lived in Atlanta at the time.", August says, "When I came back home, she was gone but her mark was made in there. Her ass busted the windows out my car, slashed my tires, she burned some of my clothes, list goes on. She did all of that, just for us to end up back together not even a week after I came home.", he says rolling his eyes. "I was completely oblivious to the fact that her ass would cheat back.", he says.

"What'd you do?", Kennedy asks.

"Found the nigga she cheated with and beat his ass.", August says.

"Hm, wow.", she laughs to herself.

"We had our good days. But when my sister died, my whole world just stopped. I had to realize what was happening, and Mariah just wasn't someone who I needed in my life at the moment. I needed to grieve because losing Cha made me feel like I lost Mel all over again, plus that's when I started taking care of my nieces full time. So with that being said, I broke up with her.", he shrugs.

"You give her false hope?", Kennedy asks.

"Like me and her getting back together?", he asks as she nods. "Fuck no. When I broke up with her, I never saw us getting back together and I never let her believe that we were.", August says

"Okay, this was interesting to listen to.", Kennedy says, "You wanna know why she bothered me so much when I found out y'all dated?", she says as he nods.

"She's had you in a way that I never will.", she says messing with her fingers.

"That's where you're wrong.", he says, "Four years and she never got no type of ring from me. Four years and don't have no kind of tattoo symbolizing that relationship. Four years and she never wore my name around her neck. You got all of that in a year, shall I keep going?", he asks.

"No.", she blushes.

"It's you baby, it'll forever be you. The whole world could be against you and I'll still be by your side. Nothing or no one could ever make me leave you, you got me forever.", August says.

"Okay.", Kennedy says nodding. "You love me?", he asks.

"You know I love you, sometimes more than myself.", she says looking in his eyes.

"I love you so much Lani.", he mumbles rubbing his thumb on her bottom lip, using a new nickname for her.

"Lani?", she asks raising her eyebrow.

"Middle name is Milan, L-A-N is the last three letters of that name. I just added an I.", he shrugs.

"It's cute.", she smiles.

"I know, I made it up.", he says making her mush his head.

"Cocky as all hell.", she giggles.
