"Absolutely not. I'd rather make friends.", August scoffs.

"Alright, we getting somewhere. Now what's the deal with your family? Cause we've never talked about them, and you love to avoid the topic. So get to talking.", Kennedy says leaning back on the headboard and looking down at him.

After giving her a pleading look for a few seconds, he sighs. "Fine, whatchu wanna know?", he asks.

"Got any other siblings besides Mel?", she asks.

"Yeah, two. My brothers, Travis and Smoke.", he says.

"Anyone else?", she asks.

"Uh, not really. I got my cousins, Sneak and Teke.", he shrugs.

"And.. Your mother?", she asks, already knowing she probably struck a nerve.

"I love my mama, but we just don't clash well. I'm gonna leave it at that.", he says.

"That's fine, so do you know where like everyone is or?", Kennedy asks.

"Trav in Atlanta, Sneak, Teke, and Smoke all in N.O., and my mama in Houston.", August says putting his arm behind his head making her face turn up in confusion.

"Okay.. You went to all of these places while you were on tour, correct?", she asks.

"Correct.", he says.

"You were in those places for more than one night, correct?", she asks.

"Where are you going with this Milan?", he asks.

"Don't play coy, Alsina. You know where the fuck I'm going with this, you ain't think to reach out to them once?", she asks slightly raising her voice.

"Watch ya fuckin tone when you talking to me yo.", he says turning his head to look at her.

"Nah I'm not gonna 'watch my fuckin tone' August.", Kennedy says folding her arms.

"Why do you care so much? You don't have a relationship with ya moms either." August asks looking back down at his phone.

"I'm gonna ignore that slick ass remark, but no I don't and you've seen for yourself why. Meanwhile, when I try to get you to talk to me about your thoughts and feelings, it's always 'fuck you' and 'why do you care?' I'm doing this because I love you and I care about you. We've been together for over a year and it's still like pulling teeth trying to get you to talk about your feelings with me.", she sighs.

"I'm sorry, but I just don't like talking about my family.", he says chewing on his bottom lip.

"Okay, we don't have to anymore. Just promise me a couple things.", Kennedy says.

"I'm not promising shit.", August says looking at her blankly.

"Babe.", she pouts.

"Okay, okay fine. What?", he asks.

"One, you'll at least try to make some friends with your antisocial ass and two, call your mom. Oh and-"

"You said two.", August says.

"It's just one more thing, go hang out with your celebrity friends. You know, like Chris.", Kennedy shrugs.

After letting out a long, exaggerated groan he nods. "Okay, I promise.", he says.

"Yay!", she says smiling and clapping, making him smile.

"Now can we take our hungover asses back to sleep please?", he asks, making her laugh a little bit.

"Yeah, big or little?", she asks.

"Big, come here.", he says opening his arms as she slides back.

The Next Morning

August wakes up to the sound of Kennedy vomiting and crying in the bathroom, making him jump up and walk in there.

"What's wrong mama?", August asks getting behind her to hold her hair back and rub her back.

"I don't feel good.", she says crying with her head over the toilet before throwing up again.

"Not again.", he mumbles.

"I think I may have a stomach virus.", she mumbles while wiping her eyes.

"Okay, okay. Let's get you up so you can brush your teeth and you can lay back down.", he says flushing the toilet and helping her stand up.

"Hey, I got you some chicken soup and crackers. I got you some ginger ale too, cause them crackers dry as all hell.", August says walking in their room with a tray.

"Thank you baby.", Kennedy says smiling faintly.

"Anything.", he says sitting the tray down in her lap and kissing her cheek, "Gotta get my baby better.", he says rubbing her cheek with his thumb.

"I love you.", she says.

"I love you more.", he says giving her a soft kiss, "Go ahead and eat, if you need anything else just let me know.", he says and she nods in response.

"Babeeeee.", Kennedy says laying on her side and crying in her pillow.

"I know baby, I know.", August says rubbing her stomach.

"It hurts so bad.", she sniffles.

"I'm gonna help you get better aight?", he says wiping her tears.

lOkay.", she says slowly turning her body to look at him.

"Stop crying for me.", he says wiping more tears that fell.

"Thank you for taking care of me.", she mumbles looking at him.

"Through sickness and health, right?", he asks smiling a little bit.

"Yeah.", she nods, "Hold me?", she asks.

"Come here.", he says pulling her in his arms and wrapping her leg around his waist, "Get some rest, okay?", he says.

"Okay.", she mumbles in his chest.

"Wait, hold it. This is my shit.", Kennedy says holding her pencil up smiling hearing Drugs playing.

"You really listened to my music like that before you met me?", August asks.

"Hell yeah. Boy you are talented! I slept on you for a little minute though.", she says starting to draw again.

"Why you was sleeping on the boy?", he frowns.

"I don't follow trends, it was like 2014 and you had just become R&B's newest superstar. It was a trend to listen to you, but clearly you caught my attention because I caught up with you in.. 2016 maybe?", she says shrugging.

"Welp, you woke now so that's all that matters.", he chuckles, "What was the first thing you listened to?", he asks.

"I think it was This Thing Called Life, yeah it was definitely that. You put your head, shoulders, knees, AND toes into that fuckin album. Pure masterpiece.", she says doing a chefs kiss, making him laugh.

"Thank you, now let's get into the most important question.", August says smirking.

"Oh God, what?", Kennedy asks.

"Was I ever your celebrity crush?", he asks smiling.

"Actually... yes you were for a little. No one knew about it though.", she giggles.

However, this conversation started to raise many questions in her head that she wanted to get answered in that very moment and he knew that.
