It had been a few days since the study session with Jaemin and things had been tense between Renjun and Donghyuck.

The younger had a notion as to why, but he felt unable to confront the Chinese since if his assumptions were incorrect, he could be exposing his and Chenle's secret.

With the hopes of making things better, Donghyuck found himself rapping his knuckles against the door, hoping that Renjun was home to answer.

A click was followed by the door being thrown open by a very unmotivated, and clearly recently woken Renjun who wore round-rimmed glasses which complimented his fine facial features.

His usually gelled and styled hair was simply overgrown and fluffy.

Adorable.

The thought left Donghyuck's mind as soon as it came since in a softer tone than usual, he heard Renjun almost whisper a quiet, "You gonna' stare all day, or are you coming in?"

He stepped back, allowing the taller to enter his house for the nth time since their initial sleepover. Really, it had become that of habit to go to the older's house since his parents were usually working or with his sister who he explained had 'fallen ill'.

"Thanks."

After hanging his coat upon the banister, Donghyuck followed Renjun to the kitchen, where coffee was being brewed. The strong scent was enough for Donghyuck to hum with happiness.

"Take a seat, I'll get you one," Renjun mumbled, pulling out an extra mug for the visitor. With a bit of hesitance, he added a quick, 'I've missed you lately' before turning to see Donghyuck's softened expressions.

"I'm still stuck to you at the hip, Silly," the taller teased, flicking Renjun's nose as he bent down to place the mug in front of Donghyuck. "So, how about our good old sleepovers? Can I stay the night?"

With a sheepish grin, Remjun nodded. He hadn't meant to have taken a step back in his plan to further their relationship, but his anger was quite uncontrollable, and his need to kill had grown upon seeing Na Jaemin flirt with his property.

"Wanna' cuddle when we go up to your room? It's freaking freezing!" Donghyuck shivered while cupping the mug to have some form of heat in this long winter.

The skiing trip was going to be in February, and the snow still hadn't shown mercy.

"I'd love to."

The television was set to a low volume after maybe three films, and Donghyuck could feel that force of nature pulling his eyes lids closed.

Donghyuck let his head fall against Renjun's chest, listening to the steady beat of the older's heart. The thumping calmed him, making his eyes become heavy with exhaustion while the faint mumbles of the television faded into the background.

His arms were loosely wrapped around Renjun's waist as everything turned black.

Had it been minutes? Hours? Donghyuck was no wiser to how long he had been asleep, but the fading warmth of the empty sheets to his right made him think that Renjun had only left in recent minutes.

Releasing a yawn, the blonde stretched out his arms, his sweater paws slipping down his arms while his body twisted in unnatural angles to stretch his back.

"Junnie?" He whispered out listlessly, still not fully awake, nor was he fully aware of the argument going on downstairs. Though as he trailed to the door and opened it, he could hear anger woven throughout Mark and Renjun's words which were spat back and forth.

"He is not!" Mark hissed with clear anger, his voice cracking roughly as emotion started to take over. "I've seen this one too many times, Jun. I refuse to see it again."

Donghyuck leaned over the banister directly outside Renjun's bedroom.

He was up on the tips of his toes as he leaned over dangerously.

"And what are you going to do about it if you hate it that much? Hmmm?" The younger of the two calmly replied, his attitude changing in a split-second. "There is nothing that you could have ever done to save yourself, let alone someone else."

With that, the battle seemed to come to a grinding halt as Mark released a defeated sigh.

"Just know that you're about to ruin another beautiful personality. And I can't just watch this time."

The sound of hurried footsteps pattered along the floorboards was closely followed by the sharp slam of the front door.

Yet the only question that Donghyuck found himself asking, was why Mark had come over just to yell at someone like Renjun? And what exactly were the pair fighting about?

Many things had built-up over the past two months or so since Donghyuck's arrival, but finally he had too many unanswered questions. Each of the boys seemed to grow more unhappy everyday, what with Chenle's eyes lacking the shine that should be there, Jeno's discomfort whenever they had lunch together, Mark's hesitance...And so on.

What was the undeniable fear in the friend group about? And what did it have to do with the person that Mark had mentioned?
