Donghyuck's mind had been a bit of a mess since the other day's events. His brain was a war zone of conflicting emotions. A part of him was tangled in the denial that the inklings of feelings had been planted and were only growing with each affectionate action that Renjun made.

"-Hyuck.....Donghyuck?" The blonde got snapped out of his absent state, letting his eyes settle on the concerned features of a boy who he now considered a friend. "You alright, buddy?" Jaemin whispered while his hand rested on the older's knee which began bouncing.

"I'm all good."

It was an unconvincing reply indeed, but Jaemin had never been one to push anything on anyone, and he knew that Donghyuck's mind just wasn't with it today.

"I swear, man, that Renjun kid is doing something to the old focused Donghyuck who I once knew," the teen jokingly chuckled while thinking of the student president.

Donghyuck blushed at this, quickly covering his cheeks to avoid any criticism from Jaemin who had been teasing Donghyuck about his and Renjun's close friendship for weeks now.

The conversation didn't linger in the air for much longer, and Donghyuck was now eager to continue with the project, really wanting to finish it before their deadline the next day.

The skiing trip was around the corner, and Donghyuck was more than ready to get away from his hectic life and spend some quality time with Renjun and the others.

His heart began to thump violently in his chest at the thought of the older, and a small blush plagued his cheeks with obvious emotions.

"Ohhhhh, someone's in love!" Donghyuck merely slapped Jaemin's arm before burying his face in his hands in utter embarrassment.

"I thought you wanted to get this done with?" The older pushed with a lack of enthusiasm.

"Last I checked, it you who wants the good grade...and Renjun apparently."

"Shut up!" Donghyuck childishly whined, pushing Jaemin away from him as he refused to make eye-contact with the joking younger.

"Your wish is my command, Hyuckie." His head snapped up at that and his expression portrayed confusion as he heard the nickname that Renjun had given him. "I heard our dear student council president saying that...It's so cute," he cooed, pinching the older's cheeks in a presumptuous manner.

"What's he like in the student council? I mean he acts differently around each of his friends..."

Jaemin hummed gently, the tuneful melody ringing out in the quiet room as he thought through the different encounters he had with Renjun.

"He's strange. I mean, one day he'll be the nicest - unless you're late - and the next day he'll be so angry and passionate that even the teachers leave him be."

Neither really sounded like the Renjun he knew.

"I find that he had this aura about him. I used to think he had standards, as if he thought he was better than us, but in the past year or so, I think it makes me a bit unsettled," Jaemin mumbled. He felt chills run down his spine, as if the very person they were talking about was there, listening intently.

"I actually kind of know what you mean. I thought he was a bit...conceited?" Donghyuck questioned, his shoulders rolling back to relieve tension. "But I always felt the need to be around him-"

"As if his presence is addictive," Jaemin finished, nodding along with Donghyuck. "I don't know man, I think there's more to him than what meets the eye, but if you're on his good side, I think it'll be smooth sailing. Have you seen how he treats Mark and the others? You would think they were royal."

Immediately, Donghyuck's mind flashed to the argument he had overheard the other day. No matter how many times attempted to shake the odd feeling, the desperation in Mark's eyes reached him.

"He makes me feel safe. I like that."

Feeling guilty for talking about someone who he respected, Jaemin stood up, stretching his aching legs before turning back to Donghyuck.

"Want anything to eat?"
