Sana's Surprise.

Sana came out of Mumbai airport. The last time she was here he had come to receive her. She had created a tantrum when he had said he was busy. She had refused to come if he didn't come to pick her up. And he had given in. Sana had hugged him and kissed his cheeks. He had laughed.
Sid: Kya be Moti, kitna drama karti hai tu?? "Tu nahi lene aaya to mai ghar nhi aaungi". Damki deti hai kya tu muje?? Airport tere dada ka hai kya jo tuje rakh lete.
Sana: Par tu aaya na. Bas. Muje pata tha tu aayega.
Sid: Par yeh hamesha nhi hoga.
Sana: Yeh hamesha hoga. Mai jab bhi Mumbai airport aaungi aur tuje bulaungi tu zaroor aayega.
    She has come. She had not called and he did not come. She wanted to block that memory. She wanted to forget everything. But is it that easy??She wished there was a delete button. She would have deleted all the memories of him. The cab stopped in front of the Shukla mansion. It was a huge house opposite versova beach with garden and open terrace. Her uncle Vinod Shukla and his Elder brother Ashok Shukla were in export business. These two brothers and their families lived together in this house. Maa and her maasi, whom she called Aani loved each other like sisters, and so their family had a bond which many joint families don't. Sana knocked on the gate and the watchman opened it. He didn't recognise Sana as he was new, but the mali kaka came rushing towards her.
Mali kaka: Sana baby aap ho na??
Sana: Jee kaka mai he hu. Kaisi hai aap.
Mali kaka: Mai thek hu. Ruko mai sab ko batata hu.
Sana: Nahi nahi kaka mai jaake unhe surprise deti hu.
Maa and Reet were sitting with Pari. Viju and Ruhi were there too. Maaji came along.
Maaji: Rita, Reet sab ke leye kapde le liye na?? Kisiko koi shikaayat nhi hone chahiye. Vaise to Aaditya ke ghar wale samajdaar hai, par hame khayaal rakhna hai.
Maa: Haa Maa sab le leye hai. Thode sari extra bhi le kar rakhe hai. Kahi zarurat pad jaaye to.
Reet: Didi, preeti aur mithi ko bhi call kiya tha maine. Yeh ladkiya bacchio sath aa jaaye to ghar me raunak lag jaayegi.
Ruhi: Mera to kisiko khayaal he nhi hai. Mere leye koi kuch nhi khareed raha hai. Mai kya pehnungi functions me.
Viju: Tu yeh aise he rahegi to bhi tuje koi nahi dekhne wala. Shaadi Pari di ke ho rahi hai teri nhi.
Ruhi: Ha to aap reh jaao iss t- shirt aur shorts me.
Reet: Tum dono baar baar bas ladte raho. Ek 24 saal ka hai aur ek 18 saal ke hai, par baccho jaise ladte hai.
Ruhi: Maa muje kab le jaa rahi ho shopping. Mama ko to Pari di ke shopping se fursat he nhi hai.
Maa: Ha beta chale chalte hai. Tuje jo chahiye vo le lena.
Sana: Aur Maa muje??
They all turned around. Ruhi came running followed by Pari and Viju. They all squeaked with joy and hugged her.
Pari: I can't believe this. Tu saach me aayi ya mai sapna dekh rahi hu.
Sana: Pagal, mai sach me aayi hu.
She went and hugged Maa, Aani and maaji. They all were delighted to see her. All sat surrounding her.
Reet: Tu acchanak kaise??
Sana: Tum sab ne aisi aisi dhamki de ke muj bichari ke paas koi chaara he nhi baccha. Yeh madam to boli ke shaadi he nhi karungi. Vo Adi mere ghar pahuch jaata fir. Aur Maa ne to ultimatum he de diya. Aur Aani ka to alag he rona dhona. Emotional blackmail karna to koi aap se sikhe Aani.
Reet: Are bahot kaam aata hai yeh emotional blackmail. Kyu didi??
Maaji: Haa aisi he mere bete pe bhi zulum karti hai yeh. Ro dho kar.
    They all laughed. Maa took Sana's hand in hers.
Maa: Bahot accha laga tu aayi.
Sana: Muje bhi Maa.
Maa: Ek saal hua tuje milkar na?? Delhi me Soni ke shaadi me mile the. Tu to Mumbai ka rasta he bhul gayi hai.
Sana: Aise kuch nhi hai Maa. Lo aa gayi na ab.
     Sid got out from the car. He had worked out extra round today at the gym. To ease the frustration he was feeling, since yesterday. He had not slept the night properly. He saw mali kaka coming towards him. Happiness on his face made him ask.
Sid: Kya hua mali kaka. Aaj aap ke baag me konsa naya phool aaya hai.
Mali Kaka : Sana aayi hai
Sid: Kya??
Under his breath.
Sid: Aaj kal muje sirf ek he naam sunaai dene laga hai.
Mali kaka: Vo....
Sid: Kya kaha abhi aap ne. Koi naye flower ka naam hai kya??
Mali kaka: Are nhi beta vo Sana baby aayi hai.
      Sid felt his legs go weak. He leaned to the car, as to take support. Sana here?? Today?? Is this some kind of joke?? No because the happiness on Mali kaka's face said it all. How was he going to face her. He was not prepared for this. He had not wished for this. Did he not?? Deep in his heart, did he not want her to come?? So now go and face her. He told himself. He took his tote bag from the car with trembling hands and walked inside the house.
Ruhi was talking continuously. Sana remembered she was once like this. But she has changed. She was forced to change. And very soon she will be facing the reason for her change. But she didn't knew it would be that soon.
Ruhi: Are bhai dekho kon aaya hai?? Sana di ne hum sab ko surprise diya.
     Indeed it was a surprise. He looked at her. She didn't turn around. He came to the hall and saw her face. Her beautiful face. After nine years. Nine long years. She was not looking at him. Maa looked at her confused.
Maa: Are tuje kya hua hai?? Dekh siddharth hai. Jiske pichche gumti the tu. Bhul gayi??
Sana: Nahi Maa kuch bhuli nhi hu mai. Sab yaad hai. Par ab sab bachpana chala gaya. Badi ho gayi hu ab.
Reet: Par hame to tu vo bachpana karne vali Sana he pasand the.
Sana: Aani sab cheeze hamesha vaisi he nhi rehti na?? To mai bhi nhi rahi.
She looked at him now. A fake smile on her face. It was so fake that it felt like a stab in his chest.
Sana: Kaisa hai siddharth??
He was dumbfounded. He felt off balance. Then he composed himself as all were waiting for his reply.
Sid: Mai thek hu Sana. Tu kaisi hai??
Sana: Mai ekdum first class.
He nodded and left the room. Was she going to punish him like this. He felt like running away. That fake smiled showed how much she hated him. And that was his worst fear. But he will have to live with it now. She hated him and she was here now. Avoiding her was the best solution. And he will do that. Will he??
Pari hugged Sana once again.
Pari: Thank you, thank you aane ke leye.
Sana: Kya drama kiya tune Pagal. Mai shaadi he nhi karti. Abe jaa. Badi aayi shaadi na karne wali. Dramebaaz.
Reet: Sana tuje bhuk lagi hogi. Chal kuch kha le
Sana: Nahi Aani mai pehle fresh ho jaati hu.
Pari: Ha chal tu mere kamre me chal.
They both went to Pari's room.
    Sid went and stood under the shower.She was so damn beautiful. He wanted to divert his mind from her. But it was next to impossible. She had come to Mumbai. She had once said that he will always be the one who will come to the airport to pick her up whenever she comes to Mumbai. She had been so sure at that time. And he knew, he would. But she had not called him. She had dismissed him. And that hurts. Dressed into shorts and t-shirt he lay on the bed. There was a knock on the door, Sid got up and opened it. Adi stood in the doorway. Sid let him in.
Adi: Mere Sath shopping chal. Mere suit ka fitting bhi hai.
    Sid went and lay on the bed again. Adi sat on the couch opposite to the bed.
Sid: Tu muje kyu pakaane aa gaya. Teri vo madam hai, meri behan usse le jaa. Muje koi farak nhi padta tu suit pehen ke kaise lagega. Usse padta hai. To usse le jaa.

Sid: Kyu ki muje nhi baat karna uss baare me. Tu jaa na pari ko leke.
Adi: Vo aaj nhi aayegi. Sana madam jo aayi hai. Thek hai chal. Akela he chalaa jaata hu.
Sid: Abe nautanki band kar. Chal chalta hu. Tuje do char aur dost banane nhi aaye kya?? Jab dekho tab mere pichhe pada rehta hai. Aur ab shaadi bhi meri he behan se karni the tuje.
Adi: Ab to double haq hai mera.
    They both came down to find Sana and Pari sitting on the dinning table having lunch. As they came forward Sana didn't look at Sid, but smiled at Adi. Adi went and took a bite from Pari's plate. Maa came from the kitchen.
Maa: Are Adi plate le lo beta. Bait ke khaao.
Adi: Are nhi Maa aise he taste kiya.
Maa: Ha to accha kiya. Ab chalo baito kha lo. Siddharth tu bhi bait breakfast bhi nhi kiya hai tune.
    They both sat to have lunch.
Adi: Aur sunaao Sana. Kya chal raha hai??
Sana: Sab thek jiju. Aap batao ho gayi tayari aapki.
Adi: Meri kaheki tayari. Tayari to yeh madam ke chal rahi hai. Hum to bas fate purani kapdo me bait jaayegi shaadi ke leye.
Pari: Aur tumhe lagta hai, mai tumse fir shaadi karungi??
Adi: Shaadi to karni he padegi madam jee. Are Sana tumhara song to bahot accha bana hai Yaar. Bahot pasand kar rahe hai log tumhe.
Sana: Thank you jiju.

    She looked at Sid with bitterness in her eyes. She is never going to forgive him. No she never will.
