Goggles woke up bright and early to get things set up. Thankfully, he wasn't doing this alone. Headphones, and Gloves had agreed to help out. Goggles had asked Specs to help out but Specs vowed that he'd only help out if he got paid, and Goggles politely refused.
It was around 10 in the morning once the group had officially gotten things started. The stand was set up on a busy highway, perfectly placed in at the corner of the road where customers could easily stop by.
Headphones arrived on her bike, parking it against a nearby fence. "You both ready for today?" she asked, taking her helmet off.
"Yup," Gloves opened the cooler, showing off the many pitchers of lemonade they had made earlier this morning.
"Wow, you two worked harder than I thought." She said with clear shock. "I was almost sure that I'd have to drag Goggles out of bed this morning."
"Are you surprised that we were on time?" Sourness hinted Gloves' voice.
"I'll admit, I am. I've never seen you, and especially Goggles, be so dedicated to something."
"Goggles will work hard for something he wants."
Headphones blankly stared for a moment before she warmly smiled. "You're right," she softly worded.
The morning slowly but surely altered to afternoon. It hadn't been a busy day as only a few people stopped by, who obviously only stopped by only because they felt bad for their lack of business. The day slowly went by, and by 7 o'clock they began packing up for the night.
Gloves finished putting the rest of the lemonade in the cooler. "I think we should just leave the stand here for tonight."
"What if someone steals it?" Goggles asked.
"Dude. Nobody is going to steal an old table and a lemonade stand sign. It should be fine until morning."
A small chuckle came from Headphones. "You'd be surprised of the things that people decide to steal. People in Inkopolis are crazy."
"As long as we don't keep the money here, things should be fine. Speaking of which, how much did we make tonight?" Gloves asked before shooting Goggles a glare, who sat in the grass and began counting the money from the jar. Since they hadn't made much it didn't take him long to count.
"Shoot"
Headphones sat next to Goggles. "What is it?"
"We only made 28 bucks."
"That's not bad," she tried to say hopefully. ", it's a start."
"It isn't enough though." Goggles glanced away, hiding his face with his hands as he felt the sudden urge to cry.
"You'll get it - we'll do better tomorrow." Gloves said.
"But how?"
"Hmm..." the green squid scratched his chin. "We need a better plan. People probably don't take us seriously because we're older. Most people go to lemonade stands because it's usually small kids trying to make some change. We're adults. We look like complete idiots."
"Then what do you suppose we do? We can't pretend that we're kids." Headphones said.
The group sat in the grass as the sun went down. Goggles had never been so quiet for such a long period of time, but he continued not to make a peep. After cleaning up they finally began heading home. As night approached, the three squids walked along the sidewalk – Goggles had his head down the whole time.
