Night smiled at the three kids in front of him, all of them looking at him expectantly.

"Umm..." Asriel was the first to speak, "Where's Mr. Dream?"

Night hummed, "Dream sadly couldn't make it but I called another person to join us! He'll be meeting us on the way there."

The three only nodded before Night began to lead the way. Olly stuck to Night, gripping his sleeve while the other two only messing with each other as teenagers do.

"So... Night. Who's this guy we'll be meeting?" Chara spoke up as they entered the forest.

Night smiled softly, "That's a surprise, but if you're worried about something you have no reason to be."

Chara only nodded, huffing when Night came to a stop. "What now?"

"He's here obviously." Night teased, grinning when he sees the black cougar up front. "That's him."

Chara squeaked and hid behind Night, Asriel following. Olly only shied behind him. Night let out a laugh and kneeled down, pulling the kids to him in a gentle hug. "Don't worry, he won't hurt you."

Asriel and Chara squealed as Mare approached causing the cougar to huff. Night giggled, letting the kids hide behind him but he stay kneeled. Mare purred and stalked up to Night, rubbing his head against him.

Night smiled and wrapped his arms around him, giving him a gentle squeeze. "It's lovely to see you again Mare." The cougar let out a soft roar in response.

Olly peaked out from behind Night, eyes widening in excitement, "Kitty!"

Night laughed, moving back to let Olly pet Mare, smiling as he watched the boy's hands pat Mare's head. Mare took it without pulling away, nudging the boy's hand causing him to giggle.

Asriel was the next to come around, going up to Mare and petting his ears, to which Mare only huffed. Chara was a lot more weary, approaching slowly before suddenly squishing Mare's cheeks. Mare jumped in slightly surprise as Chara rubbed his cheeks, huffing sharply.

Night giggled brightly, smiling as he watched the four. Mare grumbled and looked to him, roaring slightly. Night only giggled more, "Alright kids, that's enough, don't bother poor Mare to death."

The kids only whined but did as told. Night smiled and the five of them continued their journey. Mare and Olly sticking to Night's side while Chara and Asriel played around them, Olly soon joining in.

Night smiled as he watched the three play together, looking forward only to perk up at the sight of the flower patch. "Kids," he called, "we're here."

All three of them jumped in excitement, running ahead to the flowers already beginning to makes flower crowns. Night giggled at that, taking a seat on a nearby fallen oak. Mare only purred and sat next to him, resting his head on Night's lap.

Night paused and looked to Mare before a soft and fond smile appeared on his face. He gently began to pet Mare's head, smiling as his fingers brushed against soft fur. Mare began to purr, closing his eyes softly.

Night smiled, glancing to the kids, "I've always wanted kids, did you know that?"

Mare opened his eyes, lifting his head to face Night.

Night smiled down at him, petting his head. "I always dreamt of getting my own home, finding someone, having kids. Kinda stupid to dream something like that isn't it?"

Mare tilted his head slightly, huffing.

Night frowned a bit, "I don't think that dream will come true."
