Normal POV (and some fluff)

Hawks came home from work to find Dabi almost naked, sprawled on the bed, asleep. He came over and watched him sleep, not making any noises to his surprise. Hawks started by placing his hands on Dabi's chest, feeling the muscles of the pyro. He began to tease his nipples and kissing him on the face and neck.

To his surprise, Dabi didn't wake from the actions and Hawks knew the best way to do so. With a feather, he began to tickle the older man in the neck, then armpits. Still nothing happened, so he moved the tickles lower, around the stomach.

Suddenly, Dabi's eyes shot open and he quickly sat up. He didn't look to amused, which made Hawks take a few steps back. "What are you doing?"

"Well I came home and saw you laying here. I wanted to do things and came over here."

"I was asleep."

Hawks was confused about why he was so upset. "You weren't visibly breathing, so I check to make sure you were alive." Obviously lying.

"And the feather?"

"Only to see if you were ticklish."

"Yes, I am." Dabi replies. "Around the stomach. I got up so fast from it that I pulled a staple from my back that I now have to place back in." Dabi then gets up and heads for the bathroom.

So that's why he's grumpy. Hawks thought. "I can help if you want."

"No. Go to bed. You have to work tomorrow."

Hawks couldn't help but think about it. Does he hate me? This was only something minor but he looked like he was going to kill me. He thought as he crawled into bed.

Dabi POV

I shot up from my slumber in a cold sweat. I didn't just pull 1 staple this time, but 4. But I didn't care. I had a nightmare, one where Keigo died. I couldn't help but get worried. I looked around in the dark and let my eyes adjust to his sleeping face next to me.

I won't lose you again. I thought. I can't lose you again. I then laid back down and scooted closer to him. I hugged him as tight as I could, even as I felt yet another staple become loose.

The next morning

Normal POV

Hawks got up to get ready for work like usual, brushing his teeth, starting coffeepot, showering, and dressing. But he found it quite unusual when Dabi kept following him around.

He was now ready for work and in the kitchen when Dabi observed him poor coffee.

"Since when did you drink coffee?" Dabi asked.

"I don't drink it. The smell of it wakes me up instantly, and helps me with my flight."

"Well if you're not going to drink it then hand it this way when you're done." Dabi reaches over to grab the cup from Hawks hands when one of his staples fell out. "Damn it."

"You should really find an alternative to staples." Hawks said as he moved his coffee a little more out of reach. "You know I am in the search for a healer right?"

Dabi moves closer and removed the coffee from Hawks hands so he could hug him. "I don't need healing right now. I just need you. Please stay safe, that's all I ask of you."

Hawks was concerned that his usually non-caring partner is suddenly caring for his safety. "Maybe I should just pick up lotion? Doesn't lotion heal burns and scars?" After returning the hug, they separated and he went to the door. "I love you, Dabi."
