Chapter fourteen

Nico

My eyes fluttered opened, I looked around and found myself in a white room that smelled strongly of sickness masked by perfume. Oh. So I guess I'm not dead, unless hell looks like a hospital.

I tried to sit up but the pain was to strong, my limbs felt limp and useless. then it hit me, Bianca. where is Bianca? I started to panic.

The door opened and a nurse came in. "Oh good, your awake." She said with a smile. "My name is Tanya. How are you feeling?" the girl said as she walked froward. "Where is Bianca?" I said seriously.

"Bianca? Is that the girl who was with you?" Tanya said looking sympathetic. I don't need you sympathy, bitch. "She's not just some freaking girl, She's my freaking sister and I want to know where she freaking is!" I said rather loudly.

"calm down." Tanya said sitting down on the foot of my hospital bed. "You didn't answer my question." I said slowly, fearing the worst. "Nico, that's not what is important right no-" I cut her off and said "Is Bianca alright?!" I said, my voice shaking.

"She...." Tanya started. "yes?" I said anxiously. "She isn't dead, I suppose that's something." Tanya said and stood up. "is it really that bad?" I sad slowly. "She's in a coma, she multiple cuts in critical places on her legs, and she may never be able to walk again. I'm so, so sorry." Tanya said walking away.

I was completely lost. She's in a coma? Is she gonna be ok? She can't ever walk again? So we're gonna need a wheel chair? I don't think mom will buy her a wheel chair- Then I realized it. "what happened to mom? Where are we staying?"

Tanya turned around and looked at me sadly and said. "That women, was a horrible women, witch I'm sure you've already figured out. She will be sent to jail. You and your sister, well, since you have no found living relatives, you are going to have to be put up for adoption, or..." Up for adoption? Hell no. "or?" I said hopefully. "Or, if you have a close friend who would take you in." Tanya said sighing.

A friend? A friend who would want me to live with them? Well, it looks like adoption for a us. Oh wait, Percy. "well, do you?" Tanya said and I realized she had probably been waiting. "well....I have this one friend, but I'm not sure...." I said.

"do you want to call them and see if its ok?" Tanya said gently. I nodded and she handed me a phone. I dialed his number. Wait, since when do I know his number? I guess I memorized it somehow. The phone rang, and rang, and rang, and then someone picked up.

I gulped. "Hello. Is, um, is this the Jackson residence?" I said awkwardly. "yes, who is this?" A male voice said. "Um, this is Nico..." I said slowly not sure if I should have said my last name or not. "Oh! Hey Nico! Wassup?" it must be Percy on the other end. "Percy?" I asked just to make sure. "Yeah?" Percy said. "Percy, this is serious." I said. the other end was silent for a few moments and I heard movement on the other end. "Nico, what happened?" Percy said slowly. "Don't interrupt me until I've finished." silence. "My mom, she was beating us, and she hurt us seriously, and now me and Bianca are in the hospital. Mom is in jail. We don't have a home, Percy. Would....would you consider letting us live with you?"  I said quietly. There was not even a pause before Percy said "oh my god! Nico, or course!" I smiled. "are you okay?" Percy said. "yes." I said. "And Bianca?" Percy said. I paused for a moment before saying "She's...alive." I could almost see Percy's face fall. "Oh. Is she gonna be okay?" Percy sounded worried. "I'm hopping."a

We talked for a while before he had to go, but he told me he'd come visit me as soon as possible. When Tanya came back in I handed her the phone and said "Is Bianca going to live?" Tanya looked at me with sympathy. "We are trying our very best, and she will probably live." Tanya said slowly.

I nodded. "can I see her?" I said anxiously as I attempted to sit up. Tanya quickly pushed me back down and said "No sweetie, you need to rest." Tanya said. I nodded disappointed. "When...when can I leave?" I said. "as soon as your feeling better." Tanya said.

I sighed. "I'm feeling better!" I said and once again tried to sit up. Tanya just laughed. "That's what they all say!" Tanya said as she pushed me back down. "How long was I out?" I said. Bianca looked uncomfortable and didn't say anything. "Tanya, how long was I out?"I said serious now. "About a week..." Tanya said quietly.

After a while Tanya left, and a few minutes a later she came back in and said "Nico, someones here to see you." Then Percy came in. "Percy!" I called out excitement in my voice. Percy ran over and sat on the end of the bed. "Nico! How are you feeling?" Percy said "I was so worried!" I heard Tanya laugh and say "I'll just leave you two" Before exiting the room.

"I'm fine! It doesn't really hurt, you know, unless I move anything..." I said happily. Percy just laughed. "I asked my mom, and she said it would be wonderful to have you and Bianca stay!" Percy said. "that's great!" I smiled.

"How is everyone? Did anything happen I should know about?" I said. Percy laughed  "Nothing much. Annabeth and Thalia are, I believe, secretly dating. Leo has like this huge crush on this guy, and I think Marcy and Reyna went all the way in Reyna's car after school." Percy filled me in.

"Oh my god, seriously?" I said. "either that, or a really loud dramatic make out" Percy said. I laughed so hard I thought my sides would bust. "What about you? How have you been?" I said when I finished laughing. "Um, I'm fine..." Percy said. "Are you sure? You don't sound to sure." I said simply. "Yeah I'm sure!" Percy said elbowing be slightly. "Oh wait! I forgot to tell you! my mom is gonna have a baby!" Percy said excitedly.

"Really? That's so cool!" I said. "Yeah!" Percy sounded really happy. "And we can still stay with you?" I said nerveously. "Of course, you know, long as you don't mind my mom." Percy said. "Of course we don't mind!" I said.
