Chapter 20
Nicholai's POV
"Alright son it was great seeing you and spending some time with you. Don't let what your father said bother you because I approve of you and your mates and I absolutely love them. You four look so cute together. I love you Damien.” His mother whispered to him as she pulled him in for a tear filled hug. I could tell that she was a good woman. She was kind and caring and reminded me somewhat of my own mother.
“And to you Nicholai…” she turned towards me pulling away from her son to wrap her arms around me in a tight hug. “Welcome to the family dear, Damien is lucky to have you. Please take care of my boy. He may seem like the Alpha sometimes but he needs someone to care for him and treat him sweetly. Okay?” she whispered in my ear.
Nodding my head in response made her pull away and head over to Imani and Mateus. She kissed Imani on the cheek whispering her goodbyes and did the same to Mateus before heading out the door after her brutish husband who just scowled at us. Shaking my head at that I turned my attention to Imani who was quietly arguing with his parents about something. He was too far away for me to hear and I wasn’t yet accustomed to my new abilities so I couldn’t even eavesdrop.
“What are they arguing about?” I hissed nudging Damien in the side.
“They’re talking about the four of us.” He sighed.
Honestly I didn’t think that it would have been that big a deal that we were all mated together. Yeah it’s a big change but I didn’t think their families would take it so bad. I mean isn’t it a good thing that their children not only have one person but three other people to help them out with their responsibilities?
“Goodbye.” Imani’s voice shook the house as he yelled at his parents slamming the door behind them almost shattering it in the process. Rushing over to him I stopped right behind him reaching my hand out only to pull it back at the last minute. Comforting someone wasn’t my best skill. I never really had to be the comforter. He turned around to face me with a hurt look in his eyes and a sad smile on his face.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine.” He forced out before walking past me heading towards the stairs. Damien rushed after him running up the stairs as I hung my head down. I couldn’t even comfort my own mate properly. Walking over to the living room I dropped down into one of the comfy chairs we had sinking down as far as I could as I thought.
What were we going to do? Honestly if we couldn’t even face their parents without all this drama how would they be able to go back and take control of their respective packs without everyone hating them? That’s another problem. What would we do when Damien and Imani have to go back home? Would we each have to choose a mate and go with him and then alternate every so often? Would they have to give up their responsibilities for me and Mateus? What would happen?
“What are you thinking about?” Mateus’ voice reached my ear. Looking up I saw the concerned look on his face as he peered down at me from where he was standing next to the chair.
“Our future.” I spoke solemnly.
“So why do you look so sad?” He asked in confusion.
