It hadn't been the best day. But it hadn't exactly been the worst either. Nevertheless, you needed comfort. The moment sally walked into your room, you bounded off your bed and engulfed her in a bear hug.
"Woah, I'm glad to see you too, kiddo, but what's up?" she laughed softly.
"I'm feeling the blah again."
The 'blah' was your code word for your inexplicable mood swings, and of course, you hadn't been the one to come up with it.
Your mood swings were less than ideal to have, it normally consisted of you being really happy one moment, sad the next, laughing another time, then really angry, frustrated, even. It took too much effort not to lash out at anyone without needing help.
"Oh, my poor baby," the blonde soothed, stroking your hair gently as she led you to lie down on your bed, "What do you want to do about it?"
"I don't know. Cuddles?"
Cuddles were the cure to anything you were feeling, even if you were crying endless tears of frustration, Sally's embrace always made you feel like everything was going to be alright.
"Don't you ever get bored of cuddling me?"
"Nope," you stated rather matter-of-factly, "I love you too much to get bored."
"Aw, I love you too. Now, have you eaten?"
You shook your head and buried your face in her curly hair, "I'm not hungry."
"You gotta eat, sweetie. Just a little."
"Can we order pizza?"
"Of course, let me go make a call," your companion chuckled, "What do you want?"
"I'll take a cheese pizza and Sprite, please."
"Coming right up."
There was quiet for a while as Sally called for the food and your head lay in her lap. Neither of you spoke, even after she had hung up and started running a hand through your hair.
"What do you want to watch today?"
"Hm," you were thoughtful for a while, "can we watch The Princess Bride again?"
"Don't you ever get sick of that movie?"
"That's like asking if I ever get sick of you. The answer will always and forever be no."
"Alright, go set up then."
You produced a DVD from the depths of your bag and started the film, the same film both of you had seen too many times to count, but loved endlessly anyway.
The blah was eating away at you, with the inexplicable frustration it brought, but Sally's gentle caresses and soft touches grounded you, pulling you out of your own head and back here and now, to her.
"Stop thinking," she stated.
"I wasn't thinking."
"Yeah, right. I can actually hear the little hamster inside your head running on its wheel."
"Okay, okay," you said with a pout, "Fine, I'll try to stop thinking."
"How can I help you get your mind off the blah?"
"Just cuddles, please."
Sally nodded and wrapped her arms around you, pecking soft kisses on your head and your neck as she enveloped you in her warmth.
Allowing yourself to lean into her embrace, you focused on the movie, on pirates and royalty, on romance and death, completely oblivious to the loving way the blonde was looking at you.
