"Hey, Audrey, it's raining!"
"What do you want me to do about it?"
You shrugged from the window, where you were watching the others chasing each other around in the rain, "Let's go play outside."
"Um," she replied, nose scrunched up, "No, thanks?"
"Don't be a killjoy. Come play."
"And what will I gain from that? A cold? No, thank you."
Groaning, you plopped back down on the couch beside Audrey. You could hear your siblings having fun outside, but you didn't dare leave your girlfriend out of it.
"Why not?"
"What do you mean, why not? Rain is nasty, and I don't want to make a mess."
"Please? Everyone's outside, you gotta come play."
"Why don't you go play?" Audrey asked, barely looking up from her book, "I won't stop you, but I'd like to stay dry."
"At least come watch and referee our games."
"Will it make you happy if I do?"
"Very."
"Then fine, I will. But don't drag me into that freezing rain."
"Suit yourself," you replied, taking your house slippers off and leaving them behind as you pulled Audrey to the roofed area near the gate, where all of your soaked siblings and cousins were playing Space Jump. "Have fun!"
Your girlfriend smiled and went back to her reading, now getting hit by the cool air from outside, which actually felt really nice on her alabaster skin. She could hear all of you laughing as you tried to step on each other's bare feet.
"Space Jump! Y/N, you're it!"
Grinning devilishly, you lunged forward and tried to step on your sister's foot, which you actually did, but she moved out of the way right after, so it seemed like you missed.
"I got you!"
"You missed!"
"No, I didn't!" you protested stubbornly, "Dani's out!"
Miguel shook his head exasperatedly, "We all saw it, Y/N. Dani dodged you."
"See, this is why we need a referee."
"Ask Audrey, I bet you she'll back me up on this," Dani shrugged, "I managed to dodge you."
"Hey, Audrey!"
Your girlfriend looked up from her book to see you, soaked in your shirt and shorts, smiling back at her as you ran to her side. You halted right next to her and pushed your damp hair away from your face, "Did you see what happened? I stepped on Dani, but she jumped away. Now everyone's saying I missed."
"I didn't see anything," she replied, an apologetic look on her gorgeous face, "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
"You know what?" you groaned, "You're joining us out there. I refuse to stand by and let you waste a perfectly good rainy day reading indoors."
With that, you grabbed her book and placed it safely on a table, took her hand and pulled her out into the cold rain, against her protests, of course. Running with you, her bare feet against the cement and the cool rainwater caressing her flawless skin, seemed to give the cold weather a new meaning to her.
"Audrey's it!" Dani called, and everyone scattered, trying to get as far away from her as possible. The blonde threw a glare at the younger girl and gave all of you time to put a distance between you and her, biding her time.
Once you had run off to the left, everyone else darting forward, backward and to the right, anywhere else except for the direction you were taking, because clearly, you were already on Audrey's blacklist.
She counted, "Three, two, one!" and ran for you, the slowest among all of your cousins (embarrassing as it was to admit, you were), trying not to slip. You tried and tried to evade her clutches, stepping as quickly as you could, almost dancing out of her reach.
Not that it helped though, she still managed to grab hold of your soaked red shirt and yank you towards her, pulling you in for a really wet, really cold hug. "Got ya."
Everyone simultaneously said, "Awww, how sweet," before bolting off, "Y/N's it!"
That included your girlfriend, so all you could do was laugh and run after the meanies that were your family, managing to hook Dani's shirt on your hand. At this point, all of you were very scattered, you were by the pool, trying to avoid the others, Audrey next to you, Miguel and the others running in your direction.
Miguel, now the it, made a grab for you, which you unsuccessfully tried to escape. You inched away from the poolside, where all of them were, oddly enough, lined up. Calculating in your head, you quickly lunged for Victoria, who sidestepped, making you fall into the frigid water of the pool.
Yup, you read that right. On a rainy, fucking cold day, you made one wrong move and went for a swim. Everyone started laughing, especially the cousin you were trying to get, so you grabbed her by the ankles and threw Theodore a wink.
Catching on to your signal instantly, many things happened in the next few moments.
1. You yanked Victoria into the pool amid her many protests,
2. Theodore pushed Joachim,
3. Who tried to stop his fall but only ended up taking Miguel with him,
4. Dani grabbed onto Audrey for dear life, but both were pushed in with many apologies from Theodore, and last but not the least,
5. Theodore jumped in and high-fived you in triumph at your brilliant idea being a success.
"What the actual bloody hell was that for?" your girlfriend's very pretty, but nonetheless scary British accent thickened in her exasperation at your childishness as she slapped your arm, "You promised me I could stay dry, you cheater!"
Raising your hands up in surrender, you inched toward your extremely pissed off girlfriend and tried, emphasis on tried, to hug her, "Audrey, I'm sorry, okay? Didn't you have fun, at least?"
She splashed your face with some frigid chlorinated water, "I did, but don't think I'm forgiving you for this just yet."
"I wasn't counting on it. You can hold a grudge like nobody's business."
"Good you know that. Now shut up and kiss me to make up for it."
