Mariam's POV
I once again turned on my side and closed my eyes bringing the pillow into a comfier position before sighing and shifting again so I was staring up at the ceiling. I closed my eyes but I just couldn't get to sleep. I sighed and sat up stretching slightly and getting out of bed deciding a walk around the corridors could help make me tired. I made my bed, putting pillows underneath the blankets to make it look like the bed wasn't unattended. I walked out of the room and down the stairs crossing my arms over my chest to try and warm myself up. I looked outside the window watching as the rain dived onto the glass and sadly dribbled its way down until it disappeared. I put my hand against the glass watching as lightning lit the sky up. I smiled a little bit before freezing as I heard loud footsteps. Oh god why did Fred have to take the marauders map away. I quickly hid behind a doorway and watched as Lucius pulled Draco into the dim light. Lucius gripped Draco's blazer and pulled him close the anger in Lucius' eyes frightening. "Get your place straight young man. Remember who is your family. I'm your father. How dare you disobey your mother like that. That is disgusting behaviour. I'm so mortified to call you my son." Draco sneered at Lucius and Lucius shoved Draco against the window pressing his cane against Draco's chin "you ever do this again boy you'll get something worse than this" Lucius slapped Draco and gave him one last look before storming off. After a while Draco began to sniffle before he collapsed on the ground loud cries falling from his mouth. I stepped out of the darkness making my way towards him slowly "Draco..." he looked up his eyes wide. "Go away" he whispered standing up insanity towering over me "Draco I heard everything" Draco turned away "I don't want your help Mariam! Please go away" he held his head in his hands breathing heavily "dray" I whispered sadly making my way over to him. "I won't ask you again" he said quietly and I sighed before wrapping my arms around him. He tensed up and I leaned my cheek on his back as his body began to shake "it's okay I've got you" he shook me off sighing loudly "it's none of your business... I-I don't want you to get hurt! Please just leave" I sighed "Draco..." I put my hand out towards him and he stepped back staring at my hand like I was going to hurt him "I-if I let you do anything then he's gonna kill me... h-he's gonna kill me" Draco whimpered and pulled out his wand pointing it at me. I closed my eyes sighing softly "do what you have to do" I knew he wouldn't do anything. I trusted him. After an agonising silence Draco sobbed loudly "I can't do this Mariam. I can't" I watched as he crumbled to the ground "I don't want to die" I knelt down beside him wrapping my arms around him "I've got you... I've got you" I ran my fingers through his soft hair and held him closer as he hid his face in my neck "I won't let anything happen to you... I promise" I whispered "you can't stop him" Draco whispered his breathing still erratic "how do you know?" Draco bit his lip "Voldemort" he whimpered, a chill running down my back. He pulled away "I knew you would hate me b-but I didn't have a choice Mariam! Look!" He pulled his sleeve up showing me the snake on his arm. "It's his mark... he owns me" Draco whimpered and I pulled him into my chest "I don't hate you draco... I love you..." I stood up pulling him up with me. I walked him back to my dorm "get in" I said softly and he did immediately snuggling underneath the blankets. I got in beside him and played with his hair brushing my fingers through his blonde hair to soothe him as best as possible. "I could never hate you dray... I love you... okay?" He looked into my eyes and I smile "I promise..." he cuddled into me "I love you too Mariam... please never leave me" I shook my head "I won't. That isn't a promise dray... it's a fact" he looked into my eyes and smiled a little bit tightening his arms around me. I would never leave him. He's my best friend; my soulmate.
