Shay's POV
I walked into the great hall smiling a little bit as I noticed the pumpkin's hanging from the ceiling. Halloween was always my favourite time in hogwarts although Christmas was a close second. I looked up at the windows noticing how dark it was already. Ever since that lesson with professor Trelawney I've been really skittish and extremely paranoid that the death eaters were actually closer than I thought. I also get weird dreams that I never dreamt of before and it is terrifying. Professor Trelawney hasn't spoken a word to me ever since and if I try to talk to her she turns and walks away. I walked towards the slytherin table making a beeline towards the furthest seat which happened to be in the view of Snape. I sat down and looked towards the teachers table my eyes searching for Snape but he wasn't there. I frowned and looked towards the other end of the table but he wasn't there either. I turned around and noticed Seamus "hey Seamus have you seen professor Snape?" I asked and Seamus turned around looking slightly confused "no... the last time I saw him was this morning. Sorry shay" I smiled and shook my head "don't worry" I rested my chin on my hand trying to think of where Snape could be. The chatter fell silent as Dumbledore walked in but still no Snape. An anxious feeling washed over me but I tried to stay calm. I started to eat my food very slowly. I really didn't feel safe at this point. I looked over at Dumbledore who was talking quietly to a few professors a concerned look on his face. I ran my fingers through my hair breathing slowly and calmly. "What's that?" Came a quiet voice and I looked up turning around and staring at Collin Creevey who looked absolutely terrified. I looked to where he was pointing and felt a cold chill run down my spine. This can't come true. Divination was true. Professor Trelawney was spitting facts. "Everyone run!!!" Someone yelled and I stood up watching as everyone looked at each other in horror before running off. People pushed past me as I heard the evil laughter of the death eaters. They were here to get revenge. To get revenge on me.

I pushed past more people until it was just me in the corridor but the distant screams were still so loud. The screams clawed at the wall making the echoes louder. "Find her if it's the last thing you do" came a nasty sounding voice. I looked around trying to breathe calmly but I was starting to panic. Everything was going to quick. "There s-s-She issssss" came a hissing voice. My mind instantly went to nagini. That snake would kill for Voldemort and she would kill me any chance she got. As I made eye contact with Nagini I got a burst of adrenaline and I started to run blindly. I couldn't see anything. It was pitch black and I was beyond terrified. As I ran faster and faster I continued checking behind me to look at how far the snake was but this time I couldn't see her. She had vanished completely. I stepped back into a doorway my eyes searching frantically for Nagini as I knew she was incredibly powerful and would cause me a painful death. I watched in silence as a slithering sound was heard and my breathing began to get quicker and quicker until an ice cold hand clamped over my mouth and an arm wrapped around my waist to hold me in place. I was pressed up against someone's chest and I watched as nagini slithered past hissing loudly. I stood rigid as Nagini turned her head to look in my direction and I went to run but this person had a vice like grip. After a while of Nagini staring she started to move again and that's when I let a breath I didn't even realise I was holding out "Shhh shay I've got you" the person whispered and I recognised that voice Instantly. Snape.

I watched as Nagini slowly slithered away "Nagini where is she?" A cold voice asked "sssshe sssslipped out of my grassssp" Snape slowly opened the door pulling me in slowly before shutting the door carefully and locking it "come with me" he whispered grabbing my hand and pulling me along towards the back of his room. He opened the little door and nudged me in before he followed in after me. I sat down on the floor hiding my face in my arms. Snape sat down beside me and wrapped an arm around me carefully "you're safe now" he said gently "I'm never safe anymore" I whispered and Snape sighed softly "it's a cruel twist of fate that this happened to you. They shouldn't of been allowed into the premises but they slipped in without us knowing" my hands shook violently and Snape held my hands in his "I won't let anyone do anything to you" I heard a door click and I looked over towards the door my eyes widening "what's going-" Snape held his hand over my mouth again "shhh" he whispered and that's when I heard it. A little laugh "I'm gonna find her I'm gonna find her I'm gonna find her" bellatrix she was saying it all like it was a game. She was singing in a child like voice "it's okay" Snape assured taking my hand in his to and help. "Bellatrix come with me" came an all to familiar voice. Lucius malfoy. I don't like him. Well it isn't that I don't like him it's just that he scares me. A lot. Bellatrix went with him and I let out a sigh of relief. I was safe.

We walked out of the room and looked around until my eyes landed on a death eater staring at some of Snapes potions. As the door shut he turned around and saw us. Snape quickly stood infront of me his wand pointing directly at the evil man "get out of here black" Snape said and this man only smirked at Snape "Ooo you got some confidence now... huh Snape?" Snape glared at him and I gripped Snapes robes in my hands trying to stay calm "give me the girl... I only want to make my lord happy... she'll be a great one for the meeting at the malfoy's manor" Snape scoffed "you aren't going to lay a hand on her. You'll have to get through me first" the man pulled his wand out and smirked "oh I will..." it fell silent "Avada kadavra!" The man yelled and pointed straight towards Snape. It all went in slow motion and I felt my heart break. I couldn't let this man kill my professor and the only father figure in my life. No way. I pushed Snape out of the way and pulled my wand out "expelliarmus!" I screamed voice full of venom. I closed my eyes my hand shaking as I tried to keep control of myself; win this battle. A bright red and green mist rose up into the air as we both fought and fought. "Sectumsempra!" A voice from the doorway yelled and the man fell to the ground his chest starting to bleed until there was no life left. I fell to my knees Snape being quick to catch me in his arms. He wrapped my arm around his shoulders and pulled me up trying to hold me up as my legs didn't want to work. I heard footsteps and watched as Draco made his way over "was that you?" I asked and Draco nodded wrapping my other arm around his shoulders. "Madam pomfrey knows what to do" Draco said and with the help of them both I was stable enough to go to the infirmary. Draco shut the door and Snape sat me down on the bed before madam pomfrey drew the curtain across and Draco came in before Snape raised his wand "protego totalum" he whispered a few times and I watched as a kind of invisible bubble surrounded us "you're now safe... we won't be harmed" madam pomfrey said and I relaxed back trying to stay calm. "Nothing is going to hurt you again" Snape said brushing some hair out of my face. I nodded and took Draco's hand in mine. "I won't ever let anyone hurt you" Draco said calmly and I looked at him smiling a little bit. They both cared about me so much. I finally had a family. A real one.
