Chapter 63 - Taken by surprise

"Empress." Min Yonghwan greet as he bowed before he moved away to stand beside me.

I know why I'm here today, I know the reason why every person in the hall is here too and even though I had prepared myself for this, it still gives me goosebumps ..not out of cold or fear but that of nerve ..lack of it.

I am nervous ..very. My nervousness is mainly because I haven't done a thing like this before ..which is so very important and not just to the people but to my husband also.

I never liked Kyung-sook and heaven knows that ever since I found out that she's a wicked person, I've been thinking of a way to make her pay and today ..today, yes I'm happy. What she did, she really made her godson who loved her angry and that's why I am here today ..ready to make her pay. I know that what I'm going to do to her today isn't how badly I wish her to pay for all I crimes ..but this will do for today, for this is the consequences of her recent discovered offense ..the consequences of being an Emperor's secret mistress without the Empress permission.

In my entire life, I have never done anything important, much else what I'm about to do today which is so important to my husband who wouldn't be present today.

I take a very deep breath as I enter the hall, going straight to my throne and immediately I seat on it ..every person in the hall bow in greetings.

"Your Majesty!"

Like my husband always does when being greeted by his people, I raise my hand up in acknowledgement then drop it and turn my attention to Baek Sunghyun who begin to read out the reason for this important gathering. As he does this, I began to look at the faces of every person in the hall and for once since I have arrived into this kingdom ..they look at me with ..with truly respect, they look at me like their Empress and no longer like they're dealing with a child nor an outcast and neither as a traitor child.

I am happy with these changes and although I'm still nervous, I'm actually not panicking of the too many strange faces. People has always made me uncomfortable, and a lot of them ..well, they scare me but not today ..today their stares makes me feel superior, it makes me feel like the Nana that I want to be and I no longer doubt my husband who said that I can do this without his help and I can really do this for him and for everyone else who Kyung-sook has wronged and even though this is just a small payout, at least it's something and this makes me wonder the kind of punishment my husband will give to Kyung-sook when he finds out of all her offenses. "It will be bad but I'll like it." I said smiling to myself on the inside.

After all the staring, I let myself look at Kyung-sook ..I've been avoiding her stares but no more. I watch her as she watches me and she's looking at me so intensely _like she wants to read out the reason for all this through me. She wants answers and not just that, she's already embarrassed ..she's embarrassed when I haven't even started. I get her reason for being embarrassed already ..who wouldn't be when two of the guards who used to obey you are now sitting beside you with weapons as if you're a criminal.

"Your children have even forsaken you, you're alone Kyung-sook." I said in my mind as I look at her furiously then avert my eyes as I wonder why her children aren't here for their mother.
