Chapter 91 - Birthday Surprise

I woke up to the brightest morning which has me smiling as I take a very good look on my surroundings, instantly ..I find my hand covering my mouth in astonishment, he did it!

I never thought he would do it, I know I asked him to but I never really thought that he would actually do it. I feel my heart wanting to bust out of so much joy but I controlled it and decided to take a look around as the decoration seems to be in every corner of my chamber.

Now standing, I begin to look around happily and in disbelieve. My hand still on my mouth, I ran up to the other room.

"You're awake" I heard Wuji call from behind me which made me turn with my bestowed smile still on my face, I ran and throw myself at him while saying happily and repeatedly "Thank You."

He pulled me to him steadily then kiss my forehead and whisper to my ears. "Happy Birthday."

I've never celebrated my birthday, maybe mother and father once did but I never remembered and neither do I love one. Who knew my nineteenth birthday would be the happiest day of my life, finding out my love for Wuji would have counted as one happy moment but that will be me lying to myself. When I first found out that I love Wuji, I was so devastated and scared to death of my feelings towards him ..I felt It was wrong of me to have those feelings as then, I had thought he was cruel and inconsiderate.

I never pictured my life to turn out this bright and joyful ..I really never did and I won't lie and say that the day I learned I was pregnant was one joyful moment because It wasn't. Actually, I was scared. Getting pregnant didn't cross my mind and up until then, I didn't wish it but ..but now knowing that i will raise her myself, I feel blessed.

This feeling feels so wonderful that I feel it isn't real, maybe am still dreaming because how can the man I once saw as a monster be this loving and caring.

And I love him.

"You're crying Nana, don't you love the color?" He asked while looking down at me, then he wipe my tears. He carries me and sit me down on the edge of my bed ..now sitting near me, he pulled me to him. "You can have the color changed if this isn't up to your taste."

"I love it, I love you Wuji. Thank you." I said then scoot closer to him and begin to picture my life being this happy and bright forever.

We stayed this way for a long time before he lay me back down, pull the blanket on me and told me he will be in his farm. Apparently, it wasn't morning when I first woke up. I had mistaken the brightness of my chambers as a new day but it was just bright due to the new lights he added plus the candle lights and the new paintings he personal did while I was asleep.

I woke up when I hear the rooster crowing and i know that this time, its indeed a new day. I looked around and the candle lights are out, It seems like he came back while I was asleep and blew out the light from the candles.

I toss around lazily on my bed but decided to get up and find out what more surprises this beautiful morning has for me, I know my husband has more amazing surprise for me and I also know that he's hosting a birthday ceremony for me.

I love being nineteen for it sure is a happy age .."oh, you're here." I said smiling as Jandi enters then walked up to me.

"Happy birthday Lady Nana." She said as she hugged me and I hugged her back.

"Did the Emperor send you to get me?" I asked and she nodded her head yes.

"I was already on my way to wish you happy birthday when Min Yonghwan walked up to me with the information that I am to prepare you for your birthday ceremony and escort you to the grand hall where he will be waiting for you."

"OK" I said then stand up to make my way to the pond but something seems off. "..You didn't seem surprised by the new look of my room and the baby cradle next to it." I asked while looking at her and awaiting her reply.

I begin to smile when she started laughing. "You were here when he was putting all this together, weren't you?." I asked ..more like said, and she nodded her head yes.

"He was done with the others except the painting, he didn't know which color to go for ..he was caught in the middle of whether to go for purple or pink so he had Siwon called me to ask which one I think you like more out of the two colors." Jandi replied and I smile one more time as I look around at the new baby things in my room.

As we walk to the grand hol, I notice two beautiful woman walking the other way, one is heavily pregnant but still look very pretty. I sign as I picture myself all swollen during the six to nine months ..and to think that am just in my third mouth and my feet are already all swollen.

I suddenly feel ugly and this feeling is depressing.

"Stop it." I said to myself as we turn left and began to walk up straight, sometimes I find the palace wideness depressing and today is not excluded, not even with the great view it has ..it's too far to get to one place at a time.

"You used to love staring at that peach tree through your old window when you were little." Jandi said and this has me smiling for it is so true. I mostly stared out into space then but if one looked at me, they'd think I was staring at the peach tree which I learned recently ..has a very beautiful view.

I look up at Jandi and decided to tell my husband once again to give her a rank here in Mandir so she will stay with me even after I give birth and also because she deserves it.

"Greetings, Your Highness." Two eunuchs greets me and I told them to raise then begin to walk once again, only to come face to face with the pregnant beauty who had me doubting my own beauty.

"Greetings, empress consort." She greets.

"Raise." I said as she's bowing in respect.

She sure is new here for I haven't seen her face around the palace before. I expect her to move on like the rest after greeting me but she didn't, instead she begin to introduce herself.

Maybe she's consort of one of the ministers or court of one of the consort of an important person in the kingdom and is here for my birthday ceremony.

"Am Bai Hara, I saw Your Highness earlier but wasn't so sure if it's her ..it was mother who told me that it's you so I had to come and greet you as my son will be your child older sibling.

I came when I heard the news that Mandir is under attack, thankfully the war had ended before I arrived. I hope you aren't angry that I didn't come to greet you sooner given the fact that you're the legal consort of the Emperor of Mandir, because that wasn't my intention. I had wanted to formally introduce myself to you earlier but Wuji said you aren't feeling well so I didn't." She said and begin to look at me when I still didn't say anything, instead I kept on looking at her very pregnant belly in shock.
