"Wei Ying," a deep voice echoed around the room, "did you help Xue Yang kill everybody?" It was Wangji, he and Wei Ying were inside the Chang Clan's house with Xue Yang who was tied up.
"What if I did?" Wei Ying asked, "What will you do then?"
"I must know," Wangji said taking a step closer to the man.
"Fine, I did," Wei Ying said sighing, "what are you going to do about it?"
Wangji's breath hitched, "Nothing."
Wei Ying was shocked, "Nothing?"
"Mn."
"You're not going to make me get punished?" Wei Ying asked suspicious.
"Mn," Wangji responded, "I don't care."
"How?!" Xue Yang and Wei Ying asked.
"Not your business," Wangji said glaring at Xue Yang.
"Hey, don't talk to him that way," Wei Ying said stepping in front of Xue Yang, "he's my friend."
Wangji looked at him in shock, "Friend?"
Wei Ying nodded, "Yeah, me and him understand each other more than anybody. He was living on the streets and so did I, the only difference is that he didn't have anyone."
"Yeah, but I did perfectly fine on my own," Xue Yang said smirking.
"Liar," Wei Ying said sticking his tongue out at the man, "you needed me."
"Rude."
"Whatever," Wangji, who was watching their interaction, thought about how they looked and acted like siblings.
"I won't tell," Wangji said, "but I can't help unless you stop."
Wei Ying looked at Xue Yang who nodded, "Fine, don't help us. We've been perfectly fine with only each other."
Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan walked in with Jiang Cheng, "The Nie Sect of Qinghe is coming," Jiang Cheng said, "they are going to take Xue Yang for punishment."
Wei Ying looked at his brother, "Why?"
"What do you mean why? He killed over 50 people here, and many other minor clans," Jiang Cheng said, "he must get punished."
"Jiang Cheng," Wei Ying said, "does he really deserve to be punished? I mean he was looking for revenge."
The man looked at him in shock, "Not deserve to be punished?! He's a murderer!"
Wei Ying shrugged, "I'm just saying that he's young and needs help, not punishment."
Xingchen stepped forward, "It is true that he is young, he probably had someone to teach what was wrong and right though."
"I didn't," Xue Yang said, "I lived alone on the streets my whole life. All I learned was that being a child and poor made everyone beat you."
"What do you mean?" Xingchen asked.
"I was beat a lot as a kid," Xue Yang said, "and I'm guessing Master Wei understands me on that."
"I do," Wei Ying said, "that's why I think he should be taught and helped."
Song Lan stepped forward, "Whether he was taught or not, that doesn't hide the fact that he killed all those people."
"It was for revenge," Xue Yang said smiling softly, "they deserved it."
"Why? What did they do?" Xingchen asked.
"I can't tell you that pretty one," Xue Yang said smirking.
Xingchen glared at him, "Don't call me that."
"Why not?" Xue Yang daringly asked, he knew his life could be at stake if he said the wrong thing but he didn't care. Not anymore.
"Just don't," Xingchen said.
"Then what's your name?" Xue Yang asked.
"Xiao Xingchen, but don't even talk to me," Xingchen said, he turned to Wei Ying, "I understand what you're saying but I still think he must go to the Nie Sect of Qinghe."
"Fine, but he won't get a severe punishment," Wei Ying said, "why don't you come with us?"
Xingchen looked at Song Lan, "I do not know anything about the Yin Iron, Zichen was just passing by. We don't want to get too attached to any sect, so it would be best if we didn't get involved."
Wei Ying nodded, "I understand, I hope we cross paths again," he bowed to them.
They bowed back and Xingchen smiled, "I am sure Xue Yang will be punished fairly, so do not worry."
"I'm sure he will," Wei Ying said turning to the tied up man, "but Xue Yang won't care either way." Xingchen nodded and bowed along with Song Lan, they said their goodbyes and left them alone.
Wei Ying turned to Xue Yang, "You really need to learn to watch your mouth," he said.
Xue Yang smiled, "Couldn't help it I guess, and your brother is staring at us." Wei Ying turned around and saw Jiang Cheng glaring at Xue Yang.
"He just doesn't like you," Wei Ying said, "like me."
Xue Yang scoffed, "Sure you don't." Wei Ying hid a smile, he heard footsteps and turned to the door. It was Huaisang and Meng Yao.
Huaisang walked in fanning himself, "Did you find him?" He asked, he saw Xue Yang and smiled, "Seems like you did, good job!"
"Thanks," Wei Ying said, "but we need to take him to the Nie Sect of Qinghe for punishment. You brought people with you, right?"
"Of course," Huaisang said, "Meng Yao brought a lot of people."
"Good," Jiang Cheng pipped in, "now let's go."
The men grabbed Xue Yang harshly who huffed, "Do you have to be so rough?" He muttered.
"Shut up," Jiang Cheng said.
Xue Yang turned to him and smiled, "And if I don't?"
"You-!"
"Jiang Cheng," Wei Ying said, "don't bother." The man scoffed but got quiet, causing Xue Yang to smirk victoriously.
They all walked outside and Wei Ying hid in the group of men, he got close to Xue Yang and told a man, "I can take your spot if you want."
"I was placed in this specific location," the man said, "I mustn't move."
"I know how Xue Yang thinks and he's going to use you to get out," Wei Ying said, "so I think it's best for me to take this spot."
The man thought for a moment before reluctantly nodding. Wei Ying took his spot and turned to Xue Yang who smirked, "Smart."
"I know," Wei Ying said, "I'm the smartest and cheekiest there is."
Xue Yang scoffed, "Sure."
