Messed up love

Chapter 12- Kitten

   Xingchen could feel the need to breath grow larger but pushed it down, he had to keep going. He saw a light and smiled, he pulled Xue Yang with him and swam upwards to the light, they broke the surface and gasped for air.
   "Over here!" A voice yelled, it was Jiang Cheng. The two swam over to the edge and got out quickly. Jiang Cheng ran over to them, "Where's Wei Wuxian?"
    "He said he would come out after us," Xue Yang said, "right?"
    "I can go back," Xingchen offered.
    "Yeah," Jiang Cheng said, "I don't care who goes just go bring him."
    Xingchen nodded and jumped into the water. He swam down back to where the dark hole was but saw nothing, his eyebrows furrowed and he got closer. He saw something like rocks blocking the entrance, he swam back up to the surface and yelled, "It's blocked!"
    "What do you mean it's blocked?" Jiang Cheng and Xue Yang asked in sync.
    "It's blocked, there's rocks or something," Xingchen said swimming to the edge, "I think it's the monster."
     "Damn it!" Jiang Cheng said, "We can't just move it."
     "Why don't we go get some help?" Xingchen asked.
     "Who?" Jiang Cheng asked.
     "We can ask my father," Zixuan said speaking for the first time, "the Jin Clan is closest."
     "See?" Xingchen said, "We can ask for help and they can help get them out."
     Xue Yang nodded, "Good idea, but how long will it take to get there?"
     "Around six days to go and come back, maybe seven," Zixuan said.
    "It's worth the shot," Xue Yang said nodding, he turned to the crowd. "Everyone, you are all to go back to your clans, those who are from the Jiang Clan are going with the Jin Clan."
    "Why?" A man asked.
    "We aren't leaving Wei Wuxian and Second Young Master Lan in there," Jiang Cheng said.
     "What if they are already dead?" The man asked.
     "I refuse to believe that, now come on," Jiang Cheng said, "we need to get more people."
"I can stay," Xingchen said, "someone needs to stay behind in case they get out. Or maybe the Wens will come back."
     "Good idea," Jiang Cheng said, "the rest of you let's go."
     "Xingchen," Xue Yang whispered as he knelt down, "are you sure you want to stay here? I mean if the Wens do come back you might be outnumbered."
     "Xue Yang, it'll be fine," Xingchen reassured the man, "you know it's not easy to beat me."
    "Alright," Xue Yang sighed, "we'll be back soon alright?"
     "I know, now go before they leave you behind," Xingchen said shoving him softly. Xue Yang nodded and left with the group leaving Xingchen alone in the water.
Xingchen swam around the water looking for any other entrances, he swam to the bottom and looked around but found nothing.
He went back up to the surface and sat on the grass. He leaned back and lay down on the floor, he looked up at the blue sky and let hus thoughts wander.
It would take 6 to 7 days for them to get back with help, what if it was too late by then? He shook his head, no bad thoughts. He looked around and saw some birds flying from tree to tree above him. He saw a few butterflies here and then and smiled at them.
After almost an hour he was fully dried and warm. He heard rustling in the bushes behind him and turned around, "Who's there?" He asked.
There was no response so he stood up and walked over. He moved the bushes to the sude and saw a small kitten, "Oh, hello darling," he leaned down and gently pet the small animal.
He picked it up carefully and cradled it in his arms, "What are you doing here my love?" He stroked the spot in between the kitten's ears and smiled when it purred. The kitten snuggled up close to his chest and Xingchen chuckled, "You're so cute."
The kitten meowed and climbed up Xingchen's chest, it got on his shoulder and nuzzled in his neck, like Xue Yang had done before. Xingchen laughed softly, "You're just like him aren't you?"
The small cat meowed almost as if saying yes, it sat down on his shoulder and rested it's head near his neck. It sniffed his neck and nibbled it, "Are you trying to eat me?" He asked chuckling.
He lifted his arm and let the kitten climb on it, "You can't eat me darling, you need proper food."
The kitten jumped down from his arm surprising him and ran to the water. Xingchen walked behind it and watched as it drank the water, he smiled when the kitten stopped and clawed at his leg. He picked it up and set it down on his shoulder again, "Let's go get some food, I don't think the Wen Clan will be coming back any time soon."
He walked away from the water with the kitten on his shoulder and went to a nearby town. He was looking around at the what the vendors where selling and found one selling sweets. Xingchen remembered Xue Yang had told him he liked sweets and went to the vendor, "I'll have a bag of those, please," he said pointing at the candy.
"Of course," the man said and took a bag, filling it up with candy, "here you are." Xingchen took the bag and gave the money to the man.
He walked away with the candy and went back to the cave. He suddenly got an idea, "Darling, do you think the other entrance will be open?" He asked the kitten.
It purred and rubbed it's face against his neck. He smiled and walked to the other entrance, he saw a wall of rocks covering it and sighed.
He walked over and took a rock down from the top with great difficulty. He tried to move another but couldn't, he huffed and took a step back. He sat down next to the wall and rested his head on it. The kitten jumped down to his lap and curled up in a ball, he stroked it's fur softly and smiled.
Xingchen looked at his surroundings and decided to stay up. He didn't want to risk anyone coming and trying to kill him in his sleep. All he could hope is that the Xue Yang and Jiang Cheng would hurry up and get help from Zixuan's dad.
