Chapter 36- Soup

"Wen Ruohan of Qishan, as His Excellency has intended to annex the gentry greedily. He forged the Yin Iron privately and killed the innocent crucially," Mingjue announced to the crowd. There were disciples from every clan in line orderly, "He ordered Wen Xu, Wen Chao and his men to commit countless crimes, which brought frightful calamity to our clans. So the world was filled with indignation."
He took his sword out if it's sheathe, "Today, I, Nie Mingjue of Qinghe, am leading an army to suppress Wen Ruohan. We'll storm into Nightless City," he raised the sword, "and chop his head off to sacrifice for the souls of the deceased!"
Everyone in the crowd raised their swords and chanted, "Sunshot! Sunshot! Sunshot! Sunshot!"
"Go!" Mingjue yelled. He walked forward to the crowd that parted with everyone everyone else following him. Wei Ying was close to last with Wangji, Xingchen, and Xue Yang.
They got on their swords and Yanli got inside if a cart. Xue Yang got close to Wei Ying and observed everything, Xingchen noticed this and smiled.
"Wei!" A voice called, the said man turned around to see Huaisang, "Take care!"
Wei Ying raised his flute with a smile to acknowledge the man. He turned back with a smile and nodded at Xue Yang who glanced at him.
They rode for a while before arriving to a camp where Wei Ying got off his horse and ran over to a group of people. Xue Yang followed close behind and saw that there were people laying on beds with what seemed to be cracked skin.
"What happened to them?" Wei Ying asked.
"If you come across the Wen Clan's puppets, it is better to be killed by a sword," a man said, "and if we aren't careful enough and touch their bloody cracks, we will be like them."
"It seems that three tactical deployments of Qishan have dramatically increased the Yin Iron's power," Wei Ying said, he looked up and saw Wangji transferring energy to a man. He rushed over and asked, "Lan Zhan, what's wrong?" Wangji shook his head, "Is it incurable?" Wei Ying asked.
"It requires at least three months' transfusion of spiritual power," Wangji said.
"Young Master Wei!" A man yelled running over.
"What happened?" Wei Ying asked. Xue Yang rushed over and stood next to his friend.
"Come and have a look quickly, Lady Jiang. Lady Jiang, she..." he trailed off. Wei Ying's eyes widened and he pushed past the man with Xue Yang. They rushed over to a small tent where they saw Xingchen comforting a crying Yanli.
"Yanli," he said running over, "what happened to you?" The woman shook her head and cried, "Don't cry, tell me what happened. Did he bully you again?" He asked as he turned to Zixuan who was standing nearby.
The said man scoffed and flicked a sleeve. He looked away with a cold face while Yanli tried to calm herself down.
"A-Xian, I'm fine," Yanli said between sobs, "let's go." She grabbed Wei Ying's arm and tried to pull him away, but the man was nailed to the ground, "Come on," she begged, "come on."
Multiple people from the Jin Clan came in, including MianMian, "Young Master Wei."
"You came at the right time," he replied, "tell me what on earth happened here."
"Young Master Wei, it's not what you think," she said.
"Just tell me what you know," he cut her off angrily.
The woman turned to Zixuan who said, "Tell him. It looks like we, the Jin Clan, did something shameful."
"You-!"
"Young Master Wei!" MianMian interrupted,
"A-Xian," Yanli whispered.
"Here's the thing," MianMian continued carefully, "since Lady Jiang is with the army, she cured the injured while helping with the food. Every day, Lady Jiang makes five more bowls if soup, four of which are for you, Young Master Wei, Young Master Jiang, Young Master Xiao, and Young Master Xue. And the fifth one...is for our Young Master Jin."
The said man turned around, "Nonsense, it's Yuan."
"Young Master, it's not the case," MianMian said, "Lady Jiang was too shy to give you the soup so she asked Yuan to do it. Lady Jiang asked me first, but I thought it was not appropriate. So I gave the mission to Yuan and let her pit it in Young Master's room secretly. I didn't expect...Young Master, please don't blame Lady Jiang."
"But Yuan did tell me-"
"Did she blush and deny it vaguely?" Wei Ying interrupted. Zixuan looked down in shame and Wei Ying scoffed. "MianMian, keep going."
"Today Lady Jiang came across Young Master Jin when she brought the soup over. Maybe our young master thought Lady Jiang imitated Yuan, so he reminded Lady Jiang and let her know that the engagement was off. And told her to not steal and trample on others' goodwill, even if she came from a gentry family. And that even if she didn't come from a noble family, Yuan still has better character than her, and to he self dignified."
"Be self-dignified?" Wei Ying asked. He walked forward to Zixuan, clutching his flute, "Jin Zixuan, how dare you tell Yanli to be self-dignified?"
"Young Master Wei," a man said, he was from the Jin Clan, "my young master actually did nothing. You misunderstood him."
"Right, Young Master," they all agreed, "it's a mistake."
"Mistake?" Wei Ying said, he frowned and punched Zixuan in the chest, pushing the man back to the table.
The Jin disciples drew their swords and Xue Yang drew his own, stepping in front of Wei Ying, ready to protect him. Wei Ying raised gis flute to his lips and played note, dark smoke came from him and threw the Jin disciples down.
He turned back to Zixuan and punched the man's jaw. "A-Xian!" Yanli ran over with Xingchen and grabbed the man's arm.
Wangji rushed in and grabbed Wei Ying's other arm. "Wei Ying, cool down." Wei Ying froze at the voice and lowered his arm, he looked at Wangji before turning to Zixuan with a glare and walking away with Xue Yang.
Yanli rushed behind them and Xingchen watched them leave. He sighed sadly and turned to Zixuan, he bowed, "I apologize Young Master Jin, he was angered and didn't know what he was doing. Please forgive him this time."
"Fine, I'll forgive him this time," Zixuan said.
"Thank you," Xingchen stood up and walked away with Wangji.
