Xingchen walked over to Xue Yang and grabbed his shoulders gently, "Please," he whispered.
"Fine," Xue Yang sighed, "me and Wei Wuxian did find a book. But that isn't all, we could communicate to the spirits of the corpses and skeletons there. We had teachers who would make us see things, like how they died, or got turned into what they were now. They asked us for revenge, and revenge we promised."
"How did you survive?" Xingchen asked.
"The first few days we used the resentful energy around us like we use spiritual energy. It kept us alive," Xue Yang said, "but it was bound to not work well soon. So they brought us wild potatoes that are half poison, and rodents that are barely skin and bone. They brought us clothes even.
"We didn't ask why but the Burial Mounds was bending around us. It seemed like it belonged to us, like we belonged to it."
Xingchen nodded, "Where did a-Xian get the flute?"
"A young girl gave it to him," Xue Yang said, "she used to be a school girl who played it. She was a very kind soul, I liked her a lot. She would also teach me and Wei Wuxian how to use it and a guqin."
"Why didn't you get one?" Xingchen asked.
"I had my sword, so I didn't need anything else," Xue Yang said, "my sword has a spirit that is very wise. Me and Wei Ying needed to learn how to defend ourselves better so the fierce corpses would attack us to train us. He would try to control them with his flute while I guarded him and gave him time."
"Jiangzai must be an old sword then," Xingchen said.
"It is," Xue Yang said, "brings chaos wherever it goes." He chuckled and looked at his sword which was on his waist band, "It saved my life multiple times, it learned to manage resentful energy, and helped me throughout the whole time I was there."
"Hanguang Jun said that the tricks harm your body and temperament," Xingchen said, "what does he mean by that?"
"Resentful energy will take over you, if you are not courageous and you break it will take over you and possibly kill you. That's why we are able to manage it a bit, because we won't break," Xue Yang said, "Wei Ying and I must invite it in. That's how resentful energy takes over you, if you let it in."
"What if it hurts you? What if it's slowly killing you?" Xingchen asked.
"Like Wei Wuxian said, we know our limits," Xue Yang said with a smile, "I'll be fine just as long as I have my sword. It can use spiritual and resentful energy at the same time, so I can easily change back and forth or use both."
"What about a-Xian?" Xingchen asked, "He doesn't have a sword, what if he gets hurt?"
"You should know by now that he won't break easily," Xue Yang said, "I watched him already break in the Burial Mounds, he was hurt badly. Physically and mentally, but that made him numb to the pain. He grew stronger and better. His mentality is stronger than mine, while my physical form is stronger than his."
"Then you can break easier?" Xingchen asked.
"I mean I could, but I broke when I was around 7," Xue Yang said, "nothing can hurt me now."
"You learned the invincible power," Xingchen said, repeating the words of his nephew.
"Exactly," Xue Yang said.
Xingchen stepped closer and grabbed his hand in both of his own, "Promise me, please promise me that the moment you feel bad, mentally or physically, that you'll tell me. Please Xue Yang, I don't want you getting hurt with this."
Xue Yang nodded, "I promise, I'll tell if I feel something wrong going on with me or Wei Ying. I promise."
Xingchen smiled and threw his arms around the man, hugging him. He kissed the man's cheek, "Thank you moonboy. I'm always on your side, never forget that. No matter whether your right or wrong, I will always be on your side."
"Me too starboy," Xue Yang whispered, "me too."
The two separated and Xingchen grabbed Xue Yang's arm. They laid down on the bed and Xingchen rested his head on the man's shoulder, "Don't ever leave me again."
"I won't, never again," Xue Yang promised, kissing the man's head. They hugged each other, their noses touching and their legs entangled, with smiles on their faces. And slept.Wei Ying and Xue Yang were walking outside a bit far away from the Unclean Realm. They were feeling a bit bored so the first thing that came to their mind was a walk.
They were on a hill when the saw multiple people from the Wen Clan. They were all old people and women. There were disciples from different clans and they had whips. They were hitting the people with the whips causing them to stumble on their path.
Wei Ying stopped and Xue Yang stopped next to him. The two men watched as the people quickly walked, with the disciples yelling at them to go faster.
A man ran away from the group but was hit on the back with disciple. The disciples ran over and hit the man who was now lying on the floor, groaning in pain. A flock of birds cane flying down and the disciples ran away from the bleeding man.
The birds picked at the man's skin causing him to scream in pain. Everyone in the group gasped and turned away, they didn't want to see such vicious things. Xue Yang's eyes turned wide and he started forward to the group, but he was stopped by Wei Ying.
"Let me do it," Wei Ying said. He brought his flute to his lips and played a loud, menacing melody. The rocks on the mountain tumbled down and the group screamed in fear and scrambled back, including the disciples.
They all soon covered their ears when they heard a high pitched ringing in their ears. The ringing stopped after a while and the disciples looked around in fear, they picked their whips up and began yelling again, "Move!"
Wei Ying stumbled back and Xue Yang grabbed his arm, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, just used too much energy," Wei Ying whispered weakly.
"Okay, let's go back."
"Good idea."
