They all arrived to their own clans and Xingchen was sitting with Madam Yu inside the big house, while Xue Yang went with Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying.
"You are just a gentleman aren't you," Madam Yu said sweetly.
Xingchen looked down chuckling, "Well, I was raised by a good teacher I guess."
"Who was your teacher?" Madam Yu asked with a smile, "I'm sure they were very good."
"Oh she was, her name is Baoshan Sanren," Xingchen said, "I'm sure you've heard of her."
"Baoshan Sanren, yes I've heard of her, I even got to meet another one of her students Cangse Sanren," Madam Yu said, her smile fading, "the mother of Wei Wuxian."
"Yes, she was my Senior Sister," Xingchen said smiling, "she took good care of me and I'm sure she would've been a wonderful mother to Wei Wuxian."
"She and I aren't on good terms," Madam Yu said.
"If I may ask, why not?" Xingchen asked carefully. He knew this was a bad topic for the conversation but he wanted to know the truth.
"It's just drama," the woman said smiling again, it was a fake smile and Xingchen knew this.
"I don't think it is, you seem pained by the thought of her. Did she ever hurt you in a certain way?" Xingchen calmly asked.
"Like I said, family drama," Madam Yu repeated, "nothing important."
"Do you think Sect Leader Jiang loves her?" Xingchen asked, when the woman glared at him he knew he hit a nerve, "I do not mean to be straightforward but I think that it's the case."
"What are you talking about?" Madam Yu said loudly, "You have no right to get in our business!"
"But I think I do, you see Wei Ying is often looking down on himself. I think one reason might be you, Sect Leader Jiang treats him kindly and you treat him like he's trash," Xingchen continued, "I think that you must let go of the past and go on with the present and future."
The woman was silent and Xingchen took a sip of his tea. He saw a small figure walking down the path outside and stood up, he walked outside and carefully picked the kitten up.
He walked to Madam Yu and gave her the kitten, "Imagine that this kitten is Wei Ying, young and pure. But what happens when you kick a kitten? It screams for help and tries to defend itself, but is unable to. Wei Ying is the same, he cries for help in a different way, he smiles.
"His smile show happiness but his eyes are hurt. He is still pure though, he hasn't been hurt too much," Xingchen watched as the woman pet the kitten gently, "treat Wei Wuxian the same way you treat this kitten."
Madam Yu nodded, "You're right, I have been to harsh on the boy. But how will he behave?"
"He will never learn Madam Yu, he will always be that way unless he breaks. When he breaks, I'm afraid things will get much worse," Xingchen said.
"Alright, thank you," Madam Yu said.
"Mother!"
"Madam Yu!" Xingchen and the woman turned to the voices and saw Jiang Cheng running with Wei Ying and a few disciples behind him
"What is it?" The woman asked, "What happened?"
"Mother, the Wen Clan is coming and they captured the sixth young master," Jiang Cheng said.
"What is the fuss about? He was captured, not killed," Madam Yu said standing up and walking forward, "calm down."
"The so called Lotus Pier is overrated," a voice said. The disciples moved to the side and exposed Lingjiao with multiple soldiers walking behind her. "Madam Yu, long time no see."
Madam Yu took a step forward, "Everyone go back to what you were doing. Wang Lingjiao, please come in," she walked to the young woman who walked forward and sat down in Madam Yu's seat.
Lingjiao smirked, "Lotus Pier looks good, it's just that the wood is kind of dark. They're not bright enough. Madam Yu, I must say, you are an awful mother who knows so little about decoration. It could use a little red."
"Why did you seize the disciple of the Jiang Clan of Yunmeng?" Madam Yu asked.
"Seize?" Lingjiao asked, "Oh, you are referring to the one I just caught outside. It's a long story, let's have a talk shall we? Where is the tea?"
The maids by Madam Yu scoffed, "There won't be any," one of them said, "if you don't serve yourself."
"Don't the servants of the Jiang Clan do their work?" Lingjiao asked.
"They have more important work to do," the other said, "doing such trivial matter, you don't need others' help."
"Madam Yu, this is not good for the Jiang Clan," Lingjiao said, "servants can interrupt others in such a public situation. If this happened in the Wen Clan, such behavior would merit being slapped in the face."
"Jinzhu and Yinzhu are not some normal servants," Madam Yu said, "they've been serving me since they were little. No one can slap them. No one can and no one dares."
"Listen to what you've said, Madam Yu," Lingjiao said, "in a cultivation clan, superiors and inferiors must be differentiated or it will be chaotic. Servants are servants after all."
"Right, servants should act as servants, however, why did you seize our disciple?" Madam Yu repeated.
"Madam Yu, I advise you to draw a clear boundary with that boy," Lingjiao said, "he was conspiring against us and was caught by me on the site."
"Conspiring against you?" Madam Yu asked.
"What can the Sixth Young Master conspire about?" Jiang Cheng asked.
Lingjiao tched, "Come on, let's show them." A man stepped forward and took out a kite. It was round with a one-eyed monster on it, it was golden and the monster was red.
"What kind of proof is this?" Wei Ying scoffed, "It's just a kite with a one-eyed monster on it."
The woman stood up and stalked over to the man with the kite, she yanked out of his hands and showed it to Madam Yu, "Do you think I'm blind?! Observe it. What color is it? And what's the shape of the one-eyed monster?" She threw it on the floor.
"So?" Madam Yu asked.
"So, Madam Yu, what looks round and golden? The sun. There are many types of kites, why did the boy choose this shape and color? And monster?" Lingjiao asked, "You want to tell me it's A coincidence? Impossible, he meant it. He shot down the kite to insinuate that he wanted to shoot down the sun. That is the biggest disrespect to the Wen Clan if Qishan."
"So you're saying that oranges shouldn't be eaten anymore?" Wei Ying asked, "Oranges are golden and round. But I remember that you like oranges."
"So you came this time just for a kite?" Madam Yu asked.
"Of course not," Lingjiao said, she started walking to Wei Ying, "we came under Young Master Wen's orders to penalize a person. This guy," she turned to Wei Ying, "back in Muxi Mountain, railed against our young master and hindered him when he was fighting a monster dauntlessly. Which made our young master tired and distracted, so he almost failed. He even lost his sword. But our young master managed to kill the monster, even without a sword." She walked back to the seat and sat down, "I, on behalf of our young master, am asking Madam Yu to penalize this guy."
