Xue Yang and Wei Ying sat on the bed if the room, "When are you going to tell them?" Xue Yang asked.
"Never," Wei Ying said, "I can't let them know. They must never know about it."
"Alright, that's your choice I won't say anything," Xue Yang said, "I'm also thinking about not telling Xingchen. He-"
"Not tell me what?" a voice asked from the door. Xingchen walked in and stood in front of them, "Why did a-Li tell me that you two left the meeting early?"
"We were just tired," Wei Ying said.
"And you're here talking about not telling me something," Xingchen crossed his arms and shook his head, "Xue Yang, you told me that you would tell me everything later. Well now is your chance, tell me everything."
Wei Ying stood up, "I should leave."
"No, you're staying and telling me if Xue Yang is telling the truth," Xingchen said, "now sit down and tell me."
Wei Ying sat down and Xue Yang sighed, "Fine, we were thrown in the Burial Mounds. But we were kept alive by resentful energy. We found a cave after walking for five days and there was a book about crafty tricks."
"What type of crafty tricks?" Xingchen asked.
"What Wei Wuxian did back at the Wen mansion," Xue Yang replied, "and talismans."
     "Alright, what else happened?"
"We learned a lot of things," Wei Ying pipped in, "we learned how to use Xue Yang's Yin Iron and I created the Stygian Tiger Amulet."
"May I see it?" Xingchen asked. Wei Ying nodded and lifted his hand, a rock appeared, hovering over his hand. Xingchen observed it carefully and nodded, "What can it do?"
"Controls any fierce corpses in the area. It's strong," Wei Ying said.
"What about the flute?" Xingchen asked.
"It's like Lan Zhan's guqin," Wei Ying said, "it's just using music to control corpses instead."
"What about, Xue Yang? Do you have a flute?" Xingchen turned to Xue Yang.
"I don't," Xue Yang said, "Wei Wuxian only has it because he can't use his sword."
"Alright," Xingchen said, he already knew what Wei Ying had done. "Do you have anything that uses the Yin Iron?"
"No," Xue Yang said, he was avoiding eye contact so Xingchen got suspicious.
"Xue Chengmei," Xingchen warned.
"Fine! My sword uses the energy like Wei Wuxian's flute," Xue Yang said.
"Thank you, now tell me," Xingchen said more calmly, "did anything bad happen while you were there? You both look traumatized, quiet and it's scaring me."
"We just had a few challenges," Wei Ying said, "nothing to worry about."
Xingchen looked at him dead in the eyes, "A-Xian," he said softly, "come here darling." Wei Ying walked to him warily and Xue Yang kept a close eye on the man. He lifted a hand to touch the man's head softly but Wei Ying was pulled back sharply, and Xingchen was met by Xue Yang, "I knew it," he whispered.
Xue Yang's eyes widened and he stepped back, "W-what do you mean?"
"Something happened in there that caused you to be paranoid," Xingchen said. "A-Xian would never look scared when I tried to touch him. And you never pulled him away and replaced him," his eyebrows furrowed and he tilted his head, "I want you to tell me the truth, what happened in there?"
Xue Yang shook his head, "Nothing, we just saw a lot of things and felt pain. We saved each other's lives multiple times and we even did the ceremony to be sworn brothers."
"I understand that, but what did you see?" Xingchen asked, "You always look like you've seen a ghost." The men went silent, "So that's what happened? You saw spirits? Did they tell you anything?"
"They said nothing, we're fine," Xue Yang said. "We're just a little shaken up, don't worry."
"Xue Yang, I know when you're fine and when you're not. You promised to tell me everything," Xingchen said.
"When did I ever promise you that?" Xue Yang asked.
"When we saw each other again!" Xingchen exclaimed, "Don't you remember?"
"I only said that I would tell you later, I never promised anything," Xue Yang snapped.
"Calm down!" Wei Ying said, "We just got a bit spooked after seeing so many corpses and spirit. Nothing bad happened to us, we had a few challenges about food and staying alive but we're fine. Now stop arguing and calm down!"
Xingchen sighed, "Fine, don't tell me then. I wanted to help you the best way I could but I don't know how if you won't tell me. A-Xian, don't make a-Li worry too much anymore. Or Wangji, he and I got close over the time you were gone. Xue Yang, come to my room later." With that he walked away leaving the friends alone.
"Do you think we should've told him the full story?" Xue Yang asked.
"No, he'll worry too much and might even turn into Lan Zhan," Wei Ying said.
"I don't think he will, he's more understanding and he might actually be on our side," Xue Yang said.
"I don't know, you can go ahead and tell him if you want, I don't mind, but be careful," Wei Ying said.
"I will," Xue Yang said. He walked out and went to Xingchen's room where he knocked on the door, "Starboy," he said softly, "it's me."
"Come in," Xingchen said. Xue Yang walked in and saw Xingchen standing near the window, staring at the sky.
"What did you want to talk about?" Xue Yang asked walking up to the man.
"Moonboy," Xingchen said, "do you know why I call you that?"
"Because I call you starboy?" Xue Yang asked.
"No, I called you that because you were my moon. The light in my darkness," Xingchen said, "the moon is beautiful and helps light the path at night. In the darkness. I guess you reminded me of the moon, so I decided to call you moonboy. I love it when you call me starboy, because it makes me feel like I hold all the stars in the sky.
"I think we work great together in leading others in the night. One for those who walk in the forests. And one for those who sail in the ocean. You lead those who need light in their paths and I lead those who need direction," Xingchen sighed, "but the moon and stars always work together. We can't do that unless we tell each other everything, darling. So please tell me what the Burial Mounds did to you."
