Xue Yang was the first to wake up. It was only four days after he had been thrown in, with his friend. He sat up slowly and turned to the body laying next to him, "Wei Wuxian," he said weakly, "Wei Wuxian." He shook the man's shoulder who groaned.
"What?" Wei Ying grumbled, "Where are w-oh!"
"Yeah, we got thrown into the Burial Mounds and now we're stuck here. We surprisingly didn't die after the fall but we're sure to die of hunger," Xue Yang said. He forced himself, through his weak, aching bones, to stand. He helped Wei Ying up, "We don't have any spiritual energy, the Yin Iron drained mine and replaced it with resentful energy. Probably happened to you too."
"Maybe, I feel weird," Wei Ying said.
"It's probably all the energy here," Xue Yanf said sighing, "let's go. We need to find a place to stay at least, and maybe see if we can find something to eat."
"What is there to eat?" Wei Ying asked.
"I don't know, maybe mice or other rodents," Xue Yang suggested.
"Ew, no!" Wei Ying exclaimed, then winced at a pain on his side.
"Are you alright?" Xue Yang asked.
"Just a bruise," Wei Ying said.
"I don't that's all, you might've fractured something," Xue Yang said, "let me see."
"No it's fine," Wei Ying insisted.
"Wei Wuxian, you promised to tell me when you weren't feeling well. Now show me," Xue Yang snapped.
"Fine," Wei Ying said, "I think I broke a rib. But it'll heal."
"We don't have any medical things here," Xue Yang said, "the best we can do is use any spiritual energy we have left."
"I can use my own," Wei Ying said.
"It won't be enough," Xue Yang said, "wait...what if we can use the resentful energy here?"
"That won't work, it's resentful energy," Wei Ying said.
"Maybe it will! Here, give me your wrist," Wei Ying gave the man his arm and Xue Yang began passing any energy he had, whether it be spiritual or resentful. A blue and black light came from his fingers and to the man's wrist.
"Wow," Wei Ying smiled and widened his eyes, "it worked."
"See? I told you," Xue Yang said, "I have a bit of practice with resentful energy. Also a bit of Demonic Cultivation, so it wasn't hard to think of this."
"Well, what about you?" Wei Ying asked, "Do you have any injuries?"
"I'm just a bit weak, I had the Yin Iron with me and all I got was a concussion," Xue Yang said.
"It's a bit cold here, so that might help," Wei Ying said, "if it doesn't tell me and I can pass some of my energy."
"Okay," Xue Yang said, "now let's keep on walking." They walked side by side into the darkness, unaware of the ghosts surrounding them. The skeletons, the half rotten fierce corpses, the children made of fungus and carrion. They all watched in silence, as the two young men walked deeper into the Burial Mounds.Xingchen was in town searching for Xue Yang and Wei Ying when he found Jiang Cheng wandering around with a hat on his head, "A-Cheng," he said running to the man, "a-Cheng, what are you doing here?"
"I just came back from the mountain, I got my golden core fixed!" Jiang Cheng said smiling.
"That's good," Xingchen said, "you go back to the residence while I look for a-Xian and Xue Yang."
"Alright," Jiang Cheng ran away and Xingchen continued searching. He looked for any people that looked similar to Wei Ying and Xue Yang but found non.
After a while someone ran behind him, "Excuse me sir," a man said, "you seem to be looking for someone. May I help?"
Xingchen saw that the man was dressed in the Wen's clothes and shook his head with a smile, he wished he had brought his mask, "No, it's fine. I'm just looking for my nephew and friend."
"Are you sure? I can help look for them, what do they look like?" The Wen disciple asked.
"No, it's fine," Xingchen insisted, "oh a-Chen!" He saw Jiang Cheng running towards him and pointed at the Wen disciple.
Jiang Cheng nodded and lowered his hat, "Uncle, there you are. I thought I lost you."
"Silly boy," Xingchen said patting the man's head, "you scared me. And sir, thank you but I think I'll be fine."
"What is your nephew's name sir?" The Wen disciple asked suspicious, "He looks quite familiar."
"Xiao Chen," Xingchen said, "he's my brother's son. Now if you don't mind I need to go find my friend."
"Sir, I believe you need to come with us," the Wen disciple grabbed Xingchen's arm who immediately smacked the hand.
"And I believe you need to leave," Xingchen snapped and grabbed Jiang Cheng's hand, stalking away. His speed walk soon became into a sprint and he pulled Jiang Cheng with him, the Wen disciple close behind.
This drew the attention of the other Wen disciples who ran in front if Xingchen blocking his way. Xingchen quickly took out a talisman that was given to him by Xue Yang and focused on Wen Qing's residence.
He and Jiang Cheng disappeared from the Wen's view and appeared at the residence. Xingchen gasped and pulled Jiang Cheng behind a tree. He hid behind the bushes and watched as some soldiers dragged Wen Qing out of her residence.
Xingchen's eyes narrowed and he noticed that they didn't take Wen Ning out, did they take him out before? Or was he not there?
Once the soldiers left he got out and ran inside, he took his mask that was thrown on the floor and summoned his sword. The sword came flying into his hand and he put the mask on.
"Let's go, we need to leave," Xingchen said.
"Where are we going?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"We are going to Lotus Pier and taking it back."
