"Sect Leader Jiang!" Wei Ying called, "Yanli!"
"Father!" Jiang Cheng yelled. The two men called out gaining Sect Leader Jiang's attention. The man said something to Yanli before pointing at the boat.
They got closer and arrived, "A-Cheng, a-Xian," Sect Leader Jiang said, "what happened? Why are you tied up with your mother's Zidian?"
"Father, untie us please," Jiang Cheng cried.
"I'm not sure...if it'll let me," Sect Leader Jiang put his hand next to the Zidian and watched as it slithered it's way to his hand.
"Father," Jiang Cheng said as they all stood up, "the Wens came and mother is fighting Wen Zhuliu. We need to go back and help her, please."
"Wen Zhuliu," Sect Leader Jiang whispered.
"Father," Yanli said, "let's go back and help her." The man looked at her before pushing her with the rest and letting Zidian wrap around them.
"Father!" Yanli and Jiang Cheng said.
"Listen carefully, all of you," he said, "don't change direction. Don't go back to Lotus Pier. Try to get to Meishan once you land, go to your grandmother."
"Father!" Jiang Cheng cried.
"Sect Leader Jiang!" Wei Ying felt tears rolling down his cheeks.
"I will go back for her," Sect Leader Jiang said, "you all must be safe and sound." He turned away from them but stopped when Wei Ying spoke.
"Sect Leader Jiang! If something happened to you, we won't be safe and sound either!" He cried.
The man turned around, he walked to Jiang Cheng and held the man's cheek, "Little fool, don't cry. I didn't say I wouldn't be back," he turned to Yanli, "A-Li, don't cry now. Don't cry now." He walked to Wei Ying, "A-Ying, you must watch over a-Cheng and a-Li." He went to Xingchen who looked calm, "Xiao Xingchen, take care of them for me," he whispered.
The man nodded and watched as he left, with his children calling out for the man.
"Sect Leader Jiang!"
"Father!"
"Father!" The three were all crying and calling out for their father while Xingchen watched with sad eyes.
The Zidian soon slithered off of them and went to Jiang Cheng's hand. They all looked at each other in surprise and Wei Ying immediately began to look around the boat. The others joined but found nothing to move the boat with.
Wei Ying grabbed the wooden seat and tore it off. He moved to the back of the boat and began to row with it. Jiang Cheng followed his lead while Xingchen helped Yanli sit down.
"Your name is Yanli right?" Xingchen asked gently.
"Yeah," the woman said, her voice was a bit weak after all the crying and yelling.
"Well Yanli, I'm Xiao Xingchen, I'm Wei Wuxian's uncle," Xingchen said smiling.
"Really?" The woman asked.
"Yes, Cangse Sanren was my Senior Sister," Xingchen said.
"How long have you known a-Xian?" Yanli asked.
"A while already," Xingchen said. "You can call me Uncle if you want, and if it doesn't bother I can call you a-Li."
"Yes, I'd like that," Yanli said.
"Okay then, a-Li, do you have a favorite color?"

They arrived near the Lotus Pier and Xingchen offered to stay behind with Yanli. He didn't want the young woman to be alone with the Wen Clan close by, and he didn't want her to be sad and alone.
Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying were at Lotus Pier on the roof of the mansion looking down. What they saw amazed them.
The disciples of Yunmeng were in a line, dead, some of them were being carried to the line on the floor. They saw the young juniors being carried away and some of them already lying on the floor. All their friends, dead.
"Do you see my mother and father?" Jiang Cheng asked, when Wei Ying didn't answer he let out a shuddering breath, "They'll be okay." Wei Ying saw a head turn towards them and pulled Jiang Cheng down.
They crawled on the roof to the other side and heard a high pitched voice, "-to force that man to marry her. But what's the use if marrying her when the man didn't like her? Having been coldly treated for dozens of years, she was secretly laughed at by almost everyone," it was Lingjiao.
She was sitting on a chair with Wen Chao, "I wonder," the man said, "I think this woman is kind of beautiful. Why didn't Jiang Fengmian like her?"
"It goes without saying," the woman said, "as a woman, whipping others all the time, that was extremely uncivilized. Them marrying each other, was really rotten luck."
"That's right," Wen Chao said, "women should be like my tender, lovely, obedient, and sensible JiaoJiao."
Wei Ying watched as a tear rolled down his cheek. He saw the man he thought of as a father lying on the floor, in front of the couple, holding hands with his wife.
Jiang Cheng's eyes were wide and filled with tears. He gripped the bricks under his hand and scratched them with his nails. His parents were dead, he would never be able to be happy with his parents anymore. Wouldn't talk to them, hear their voices, or feel their comforting aura.
They heard a yell, "Someone's escaped!" They turned to the voice and saw a man chasing after someone else. They were chasing a man in black, with a smirk on his face. Xue Yang.
Jiang Cheng let go of the roof and fell down to the ground. Wei Ying turned and jumped down next to his brother who started running.
They ran to where Xue Yang was and Wei Ying whisper yelled, "Xue Yang!"
The man stopped and pulled the brothers into some bushes, "Shh," he said, "don't make a sound."
The men were silent as a group of people ran past them. Xue Yang grabbed their arms and pulled them away, he ran fast, with a bleeding chest, he ran through a forest and they ended up in a big field of tall grass.
He stopped and caught his breath, "We should be safe now," he panted.
Jiang Cheng fell to his knees and sobbed, "No," he tried to run away but was held back by Wei Ying.
"Jiang Cheng, where are you going?" He asked, "Don't go back!"
"Don't go back?" Jiang Cheng asked, "Listen to yourself, you're telling me to not go back? My parents' bodies are still over there! Where should I go if I don't go back?!" He ran and ended up pulling Wei Ying with him.
"What can you do if you go back?" Wei Ying yelled, "They even killed Sect Leader Jiang and Madam Yu! You'll die if you go back!"
"I don't care!" Jiang Cheng yelled, "If you're afraid, go away then! Don't get in my way!" He moved back but was held back.
"Jiang Cheng! Revenge is a dish best served cold, but not now!"
"If now now, when? I've already had enough of you! Get lost!" Jiang Cheng yelled, punched Wei Ying causing the man to fall, and ran.
Wei Ying stood up, and ran after him, "Jiang Cheng! Sect Leader Jiang and Madam Yi asked me to take care of you! You must stay safe!"
"Shut up!" Jiang Cheng yelled he grabbed Wei Ying by the throat, "Why? Why?! Tell me!" He pushed Wei Ying back.
"Jiang Cheng!" Xue Yang yelled, "Let him go!" He ran over and pulled Jiang Cheng's hands off his friend's throat, "You need to calm down!"
Jiang Cheng fell to the ground and laid down on the tall grass, causing a dent, "I want my parents," he cried, "my parents! My seniors and juniors! Now they are all gone, even Lotus Pier!"
Wei Ying dropped to the ground as well, "I'm sorry," he whispered.
Xue Yang knelt down and grabbed both of the men's shoulders, "Listen, we are staying here for the night, tomorrow we have to leave. I know you want time to grieve but they are after us and we can't risk it. Now tell me, was Xingchen with you?"
Wei Ying nodded, "He's with Yanli," he said. He was silently crying and wouldn't let his voice crack.
"Okay, tomorrow we'll go to them," Xue Yang pulled the two men into a hug and let them cry on his shoulder, "I'm sure everything will be fine soon."
"I want my parents," Jiang Cheng whispered.
"I know a-Cheng, we all do. We all wish they were here with us, but we have to focus on living first," Xue Yang whispered, "alright?"
Jiang Cheng nodded, "Alright," he laid parted from the man and laid down on his side. Wei Ying did the same and Xue Yang watched as the men slept, while he stayed up.
